looking at danger den watercooling

i was poking around the danger den website and the "official nvidia recommended" danger den water cooling kit for nforce mobos. http://www.dangerden.com/store/files...vkit2_555w.jpg

for over $200, it doesn't look like they give you much!
so first of all, i want water cooling in my next PC build, and i know that DD is a reputable manufacturer of water cooling solutions. but are the pre-gathered kits worth the money, or should i just individually order everything i need?

i'm a n00b at water cooling, but i think the main things you need are: reservoir, pump, radiator, tubing, and waterblocks. did i miss anything? also, is it ok to mix and match parts, like say a DD radiator but a Zalman pump?
give any advice you have, because i probably need it

It's okay to mix and match parts... if they fit. Danger Den looks awesome, but you're better off with something like... AIR and WC hybrid. Something like an Antec 900 case with fans everywhere... and cooling tubes running along. Sincerely, that'd be better than exclusively AIR or exclusively WC.

i'm looking at watercooling for my next build aswell, since i like pushing my Processor to its limits.

is cooling the Mobo (northbridge) Chips by water really necessary?

when i plan on going watercooling, i think i'll just buy the HSF for my CPU, and not for my mobo/graphics card.
i don't want to mess with taking off the graphics card and mobo heatsinks... i think i'll break something in the process..

They're fairly easy to take off, really. But if you're too scared, just go extreme air cooling. Something like the Antec 900 is still recommended.

on old mobos i've tried taking off their heatsinks and i always have trouble with them... maybe i'm not doing it right.

anyways, i've gone semi-extreme air-cooling but it dosn't allow me to get the temps i want.
plus massive heatsinks don't fit in my case, and i don't want to spend another 100 bucks on a new case. for that i just get watercooling.

I'm getting extreme air cooling I think, water cooling costs too much for now :x
I'll stick 5 120mm fans with a 200mm fan I think (they costs less then $50)

I'm running 5 120mm fans and 1 200mm fan with my Antec 900. Temps can barely break 60C even with stress tests. I wonder how it'd be with WC?

Air cooling ftw
Even an extra VGA cooler+CPU cooler will be less than $100
So you can get everything you need for extreme air for less than $120

(my Zerotherm Nirvana CPU cooler is $39.99)

I'm going to get a VGA cooler for sure, and I already have my CPU cooler.
I think the GPU I'm getting has a fan too, I think.
My PSU has a fan too.
I'm debating between:
9 120mm fans (1 top exhaust, 4 side intake, 3 front intake, 1 back exhaust)
or
5 120mm fans (3 top exhaust, 1 front intake, 1 back exhaust) + a 120 side intake fan

So, 12 or 9 fans

Which reminds me, you seem to have not... purchased a motherboard or CPU yet. :P Just a quick question, Fadingz: how much of a Quad do you plan to run?

fadingz,

the problem with side intake fans is that if you get a big HSF, it can bump into the side fan.
thats why i can't fit big HSF's in my case... because my side-intake fan takes up the whole side panel..

My side fan(s) will be built in, since I'm going to get either Cosmos S or Stacker 832.
I saw many people installed the HSF on there, so I guess it should be a problem >,<

QX9650 be the perfect choice for you then. Not so many Q9450's can even hit 3.6GHz stable... or so I've heard.

Still around there in the $600+ marks... I don't play with toys that are over $500 in price.
