Trouble Installing my AMD 64 X2 640+
I am so afraid about my computer, everytime I turn on my machine around 5-10 seconds after my computer just switches off by itself.
I have checked everything to make sure my new AMD processor is properly installed, but I have tried 6 times turning it on, but my computer just turns off by itself. What shall I do, what is the problem? Sorry I meant 6400+ My specs are AMD Sempron 3200+ 1.81 GHZ - originally (AMD 64 X 2 6400+ Installed) 32Bit Vista Basic (64Bit XP, 32Bit XP and Vista Ultimate 64Bit and 32Bit On its way). 4GB Ram- 2 x Kingston DDR2 Ram, 2 x Corsair DDR2 Ram Each 1GB Motherboard: AliveNF6G-DVI Chipset: Nvidia MCP61 Graphics Card: Integreated Nvidia GF 6100 Onboard + XFX Nvidia GF 8600 GTS 256MB |

Does it work ok with the sempron?
Are you sure your motherboard supports the new processor? You could go to the manufacturer site and look for BIOS updates, maybe it helps.

I'd stick in your old CPU and update the BIOS. If it still is a no go, find someone with a motherboard that you know supports it and see if it actually does work.

![]() ![]() Wow, you're damn lucky you didn't burn up the chip right then and there . Isn't the paste usually already on the heatsink when you take it out of the package? Or did you buy it used ?

Yeah I was worried about my new processor. no it was already applied on the fan that came with the 64 X 2, it just wasn't in contact with the processor (the thermal paste).
Jebus, PCSX2, runs quite well, but still the cpu can't handle it, me thinks oc is the only route. Last edited by mosesff; March 29th, 2008 at 01:46. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Well, it depends on the game
. Remember, not every game runs the same on the emulator. Good luck on that overclock
