Open your computer, and make sure no cable is loose?

This happened to me a couple of times playing with virtual drives too much.
This seemed to work. [Start] [Run] [Regedit] Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters] Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values. Exit Registry and Reboot |

Yeah i tried Reconnecting the cables again and deleting the registry but still the same problem. I also think it has somthing to do with the virtual drive because the only drive that i have on my computer is this Lite-ON one and under my computer it says i have a G Drive but under driver it tells me its a PH5376M LBR397P SCSI CdROm Device, instead of my Lite-ON LH-20A1H

How exactly does that affect anything? Don't put the guy in an uncomfortable position.
Can you see it in the BIOS?

Anyway, to see if it's recognized by the BIOS, go into the BIOS and look... at the first page. It's usually at the page where it says the time and date, and peripherals.

Then.. unplug the cable and plug it back in. Try another power cable from the PSU, if all of the above don't work, you know it's time for a new CD drive.

Did you check in the BIOS? It HAS to appear in the BIOS for Windows to recognize it.

I mean... in the BIOS? Try restarting your computer then... hitting either Delete, F2 or F5. It depends on the motherboard. It's usually Delete, though.

On my machine I need to hit Tab (to see POST otherwise there is a Fujitsu Siemens screen in the way) and then delete to get into the bios.

On my machine, I need to hit TAB to see the POST screen... or DEL to go right into BIOS. I think you can do the same thing.
There's an option in my BIOS to not prompt the user to hit DEL... or anything at all. It just shows the Asus AI Lifestyle logo and then... poof, it went right into Windows.

Yeah im positive im plugging in the right one. Its the only one i have
. Like i didn;t do anything diffrent with it. I Burnt a Dvd with it like last week. Then did nuthing with it till yesterday. Then when i put in a Normal movie dvd it wouldn't read it, and i looked on my control panel under hardware and cd rom and it only showed 1 which was my virtual drive. It use to have my virtual drive and my Lite-on...Ok i finaly got the CD drive to read on my computer. But its only when i switch the little tab on the back of the cd drive to either slave or on Cable Select... I don't know why it all of a sudden stopped working on Master drive. But now that it works i got it on slave drive, I was wondering Now that i have it on a slave Drive will i still be able to burn DVD's and everything iwas able to do before with the Drive?

Should be able to...afterall if you have two drives (like I do) one is usually on slave and runs just fine.
