Well, I think it's a stopgap, remember that right now its the fastest single slot video card. That's the important part as the common people think that if a company has the fastest single card, when it also has the fastest mid range and low range video cards.

But that's true. The 9600GT, which is supposed to be a mid-range card, performs almost on the same level as a 8800GT and a HD3870.

You don't need to have one? Unless the game you are playing is extremely CPU-demanding?

bit of OT:
well, there are cases that framerate seems the same on some games regardless of aa/af enabled and high res, but there are a others that its really smooth ![]() and did some experiment here: Guru3D.com Forums - View Single Post - 3DMark06 & AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Scores oh well, i don't play much

It's the SM2.0 and SM3.0 scores that matter. The CPU score is too much... saturated by strong CPUs while in fact, not so many games require them. Except for... maybe... PCSX2.
Heck, my X3350 does worse than my E8400 in PCSX2 but it still scores more than my E8400 in 3DMark06 regardless.

well that's because 3dmark is cpu demanding....like pcsx2.....the difference is pcsx2 is not optimized to run four excution cores. so your xeon will always eat up a e8400. btw what did you do with your old cpu? (e8400)

Keeping it out? I may just sell it... for about $250 something... if anyone is interested. It's just that the kind of performance it offers is really... not something I would need right now.

runawayprisoner :
LOL, I forgot about the 9600GT.... But still, remember, the most money for NVidia is not in the enthusiast, it's the budget sector... Believe it or not, I have two friends who work in computer shops (The kind that sells hardware) and believe me for every 7300GT or 8500GT being bought (LOL) there's 5 GeForce 7200GS being bought(!!!!!).... .... That's low budget for ya. But then, the main reason is because the current games being played in most computer shops in the Philippines. :P

But you just need a single slot to use it.
