But you would consider the test fair? Hyperthreading has always been a love or hate kind of feature. I don't consider it necessary if lazy coders would just optimize their stuff.

I use AMD for my budget builds, and Intel for more expensive ones. I want to save up for an i7. Maybe I'll get one after the die shrink.

amd is for budget people im getting phenom 2 and overclock that to 3.8-4.3ghz on air cooling. its possible to make this thing go to 5 ghz. there are videos of people getting it to 6 ghz stable! with nitrogen cooling.

intel is for millionairs who care aobut getting 2 fps more in a single game. 2 fps doesnt make a diffrence! intel imho is good only for laptops because the laptop processors arent that expensive.

5- 6 GHz is only for suicide runs and nitrogen ( LN2 ) is only for suicise runs those speeds cant be used for normal use its only for show off

Laptop processors are built with power consumption in mind more then performance.

They sacrifice performance for more battery life. Why do you think the Pentium M was so popular? Not only did it give out more battery life then a Celeron, it outperformed it too. Then AMD took back their market share with the Turions.

Don't go dissing laptop processors and comparing them with desktop ones. They're designed and built with completely different end use.

laptop chips are generally rated for lower power usage, though theres no reason you can't clock them high.

Actually, If I'm not mistaking there was a few AMD Athlon XP-M chips that overclocked very well. Of course those chips shared the same socket as the desktop motherboards, so it made it a little easier.

you said "besides you can always get a cooler"....and no that's not true...soon even the highest of the high-end coolers will struggle if there's another heat jump like i7 was...so that statement is incorrect.
