And I am saying I highly doubt that it's still failing physical cores but rather purposefully crippled processors as there's a market for Tri-cores and apparently one that's large enough to justify still making them.

It's no problem, I just highly doubt a problem as embarrasing as a failing core would still be around if those resulting processors could not still be sold rather lucratively. And if they sell so lucratively then it might be in your best interests (or rather your pocket's) to ensure continued supply of them rather than wiping them from existence and hopefully within time from everyone's minds.

phenom 2 is the biggest bang for the buck right now it doesnt makr you buy extra like special mobo , DDR3 ram and a few other hings that make the pc more expensive

At least Intel doen't need to overcompensate with fancy Greek/Latin words like Phenom and Athlon...People KNOW they're better...

Sure AMD can lay claim to have it all on one die now, but then why is it slower?????

Athlon- was the ancient Greek word for "Champion/trophy of the games"

Phenom - A phenomenon (plural: phenomena) is an observable event, particularly something special.

A little bit....because it can be misleading, just like naming a slower processor the 920 and the 940 at the same time a c omparative beast comes along with the same name...it's intended to mislead you...

I just think we should give credit where credit id due... i7 always outdoes phenom...it would be like comparing Saturn to Jupiter...

Yeah, they're both Giant planets, but Ones just a little bit bigger...

not so much inferior tech, it just lacks the simd optimisations the C2D includes.

my post however was referring to the i7's design inferiority compoared to the C2D.

"Inferior" is in the eye of the beholder. Core 2 series or family is matured product and Core i7 is relatively new and has not yet matured just like with every new or next generation technology, or in this case it's CPUs.
