corvex : I don't think so. They'll gonna release the 45nm processors somewhere in 2009. It's unlikely to be in 2008.

Kuma to become Athlon X2 7550/7750 - Expreview.com

The Kuma (Phenom with 2 cores disabled?) with now be renamed the 7550 (2.5Ghz) and 7750 (2.7Ghz) . No Black Edition. Dang you AMD.

The Engineering Sample, (Called AthlonX2 6500 Black Edition) which runs at 2.3Ghz when benchmarked is as fast as an Athlon64 X2 on 2.9Ghz. Oh well. Q1 2009. At least there will be last upgrade to my motherboard.

intel is just to much shear horsepower for amd. AMD gets blasted on every area of benchmarks

horsepower is useless if you can't create it cheaply.

Currently, a LGA1366 motherboard is just as expensive as a Core i7 processor. I know....it's new technology...blablabla. We all know that the Phenom was a dud, but if the Phenom II can come anywhere close to a Core i7, it wouldn't be worthwhile to spend that extra hundred dollars or so. The motherboard price will kill the Core i7....AMD has always been good at keeping quality mobos low-cost

Yeah, just give it time. Once most of the manufacturers jump on the LGA 1366 bandwagon, prices should drop quite a bit. The motherboard market has been so fierce lately....

I've always had AMD, and I still do.
Back when I built my first computer, AMD was the best for gaming and general pc-usage.

However, Intel has gotten very good now, so when I update my hardware, I'll be sure to get Intel then.
Still unsure about ATI or nVidia though

Might go for ATI, as they seem to be very good as well.

Stick with Intel, Phenom II just doesn't cut it for Instruction optimisation.

I've never said Intel isn't better then amd, in this round, i just dislike intel for their marketting and business ethics.

Post bulldog phenoms will gain SSE4.1, which is when they will be ready to combat C2D.

For the everyday user and general gamer, the Phenom II is still a nice choice Squall. And if you've already got an AM2+ motherboard, there's no point in upgrading to an Intel system when you can just replace the CPU

Yeah but if you dont need it for PCSX2 the price is better for the AMD Cpu and you do get satisfactory performance.

Well i didnt say it was otherwise (Intel rules in the performance department), just that for a low budget AMD is a good choice and you pretty much get a good product for what you paid for (and also like i said if its about PCSX2 yeah intel is the way to go).

i really dont see a need for Intel to start 32nm 6 core processor they could concentrate on Nehalem right now its the fastest tech right now and many things cant even use 2 core processors but a thought came about AMD making 6 cores which means they will make 5 cores also LOL
