Save States

I'm having a problem getting save states to work.
When I save state, it states Saved State in the command line thingy, but then when i press load state, even though it says Loaded State, it doesn't load state.
This didn't happen when I was playing this on win XP, but is happenning in vista.
My comp specs are way above the required, so no probs there.
Any help would be appreciated
