ePSXe restarts comp

Greetings. I have failed to finda thread with the same problem.
(either doesn't exist, or i didn't look throughly)

Seconds or minutes after i launch emulator, my pc restarts automatically,
making it impossible to play my fave game. (i'll try it with other games now,
but i don't think it's just one. I'll edit the post later on)

Is there any way to fix the problem?

Sys Specs:
AMD 64 x2 Dual Core Processor
1024 Mb RAM
WinXP SP2 (OS)
ASUS AX1650PRO gfx card (256Mb)

Thanks in advance.

does it give any kind of error message? ive never heard of this before so your guess is as good as mine. i have no idea if this is related but have you tried assigning epsxe to only one of your cpu's cores?

That is what i did. o_o
I realize that some software doesn't
work well with dual cores. (had to do
that for some of my pc games x_x)

Well, the screen got black and pc rebooted. :S
That happens with other games too.

if you want to you can try the settings i use for epsxe, im not sure if they are going to help but i would give it a shot anyway. while your at it i would try using epsxe version 1.5.2. btw what is the game that you are trying to play?

Plugin: Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.1.76
Author: Pete Bernert
GFX card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS

Resolution/Color:
- 1920x1200 Fullscreen - [32 Bit]

Textures:
- R8G8A8A8
- Filtering: 4
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- VRam size: 256 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limit: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 60.0

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 3
- Framebuffer texture: 2
- Framebuffer access: 4
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: hardware

Misc:
- Scanlines: off [0]
- Unfiltered FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: on
- Full vram: on
- Game fixes: on [00000001]

for sound i use eternal spu 1.41 (non-lite) with the following settings:

i have the top 3 boxes ticked

in the actual config mine is set up like this:

audio device- directsound
buffer size- 80 (doesnt have to be this, so set it to your preferance)
audio-out method- thread

all 3 special game fixes enabled

"wait for XA buffer is free" enabled under the "misc" section

neill's reverb

and my cd rom plugin is the epsxe cdr wnt/w2k core 1.5.2.

Thanks. I tried using 152, same thing. Also, sometimes i manage to run and play for a bit.
But then i get BSoD, with error message: "IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL" :S
Is there any way to fix that? xD

The game i play is Parasite Eve 2
(same happened with R.E.3)

My DVD drive can't read the ps1 cd's
so i use images instead.

And thanks for being helpful

if your drive cant read the cds how did you make the images then? or did you download them?

that error message is usually associated with bad ram, drivers, or conflicting hardware. you will need to look in the event viewer in order to find out specifically what the conflict is.

Oddly enough, it read the CD copy of RE (copied from the original),
and i use an iso i DL'd, because i can't seem to find PE2 anywhere.
(If i ever download anything, i buy it as soon as i find it,
whatever it is, since owning a hard copy = ftw :3)
--------
P.E.1 was an awesome game, Squaresoft did a good job,
didn't expect a horror/action-adventure rpg of this kind from square.
xD
--------
The error seems to be caused by conflict with drivers or something like that.
Not sure which drivers though. Going to try updating disp. driver and
see if that changes anything.

ok im going to easy on you here because i know finding places to buy rare games can be frustrating. but i will tell you now, if i had to bet on anything as the source of your issue now, it would be that pirated copy. in all the years ive been using emulators and doing what i can to help people troubleshoot, i have never come across someone who has not had issues with games they download, and on top of that, ive never seen someone who has issues get them fixed. you are also taking a huge risk using pirated material, epsecially ps games, since next to ps2 games they seem to be the most popular in the emulation scene. and people who create harmful software can easily take advantage of that and you probably wouldnt even know it until your computer is messed up and by then the damage has already been done. you are going to say yourself a lot of time, effort, and money by buying yourself a copy and making your own ISO out of it, this is what i do and every game i do it with works fine.

i really suggest you find a copy of the game you can buy. if no one sells it in your area, go to someplace like amazon or ebay, they ship internationally and most of the time it is fairly cheap. i know it takes alot of effort to find a place that actually sells them but trying to find a working copy on the internet is a complete waste of time and in my opinion, its not even close to being worth the effort needed. when you do find one, you will probably be so tired after seaching for it that you end up losing intrest in the game anyway. this board does not support piracy in any way, shape or form, so if you really want help with this, you are going to have to ask at a place that offers support for warez. and thats going to be hard to find too. and just to give you a heads up, even if you own the game and do have a physical disk of the game in your possession, it is still illegal to download games from the net, this is because you are legally entitled to have one backup of the game however that backup must be created from your cd. when you are downloading a game, you are downloading someone elses copy, which is piracy no matter how you look at it.

alot of people who are just getting into emulation and aquire games illegally do not realize that, which is understandable to some degree but you need to remember that by backup, they mean your copy. the whole "i own the game, cant find it so its ok to download it" thing is not legal. neither is the 24 hour thing alot of warez sites preach, that being, "if you dont have the game yourself its ok to download it but you must remove it from your harddrive after a 24 hour period". i dont know who thought that up but there is no legality to that rule whatsoever.
