Can somebody explain this occurence?
Okay. I have two folders with an ePSXe installation in each
Right? Right. Okay. One of them, is a folder installation from about 2005. For some reason, When I tried to use it in June (07), for some games, they didn't load up properly. Either no video, or some weird bug. (I tried replacing plugins.. etc.) (They all worked back in 05) I never deleted the folder, wanted the mem cards and plugins and all the nice stuff there incase I ever found a fix. So, I redownloaded ePSXe. I simply copied the plugins over it (These are both version 1.6.0, mind you) and have the exact same setup. Then, On the new ePSXe (fresh download), Everything ran Great (well, after I configured my plugins to beauty and perfection) Present. I went ahead and ripped an ISO of FF8. Got the urge. Know what I mean? I load up the game. Loads fine. New Game - Good intro sequence. No problems. While Squall is laying in the medical bed, the bug hits. Text appears on the screen, and it's all "Dark" and Unreadable. With random PINK highlights. (Unreadable, really, can't make them out even if you squint and stare at them for an hour. I mean, totally blurred and messed up chat boxes.) So. I tried about, every video plugin I have for this ePSXe, and the SAME - EXACT - PROBLEM every time. I tried about 30 configurations on each. I was gettin mad. Because, I've played this game on epsxe before and had no problem. Hm. So How did I Fix it? I went ahead and opened MY OLD INSTALLATION OF ePSXe. and it loaded it up (on the SAME exact settings) perfectly. Perfect graphics (better than the original graphics with modifications mind you) And so forth. Now. Other games (Such at: FF7, Wildarms, Crono Cross... many more) Will STILL not load up (Either correctly, or not at all) on my older installation of ePSXe. But they all load up just freaking fine on the newer one. But, FF8 seems to want to work backwards? IS there an explanation for this that anyone can think of? They are, the exact. hardcore copied files from one to the other. the only thing different, is that one is a fresh download of epsxe 1.6.0, and one has been rotting on my storage drive for a few years. The cd I ripped from, is completely clean. (I.E; I take damn good care of all my cd's and old school cartridges.) So anyways, in conclusion. Can anyone explain to me why one works and one, uh, doesn't? Here are my PC Specs Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (Overclocked to 2ghz;2ghz) ATi Radeon x1950 PRO 2GB PC6400 DDR2 Corsair XMS2 MSI 975x Platinum PowerUp! Edition MotherBoard I don't think anything else is needed. Hope to hear from someone with the answer! (Not that it's needed.. but, I'm very curious.) |
