Gran Turismo 2: analog problem
Hiya there. First of all, sorry to post yet another GT2 topic in a forum that seems rather crowded by them, but after extensive searching I still haven't found an answer to my problem. I'll try to sketch a full picture to be as forthcoming as possible.
I've been playing GT2 on ePSXe version 1.60 for the past few weeks, and was very happy to find a setup for gpu and audio drivers that ran the game almost perfectly, save for some negligible visual glitches. Then, several days ago, someone came by and I showed him Valkyrie Profile, changing the plugins to get the right rendering and sound. Now, as I changed back to my old setup to continue on GT2, I suddenly noticed the music started stuttering in some menus and during races. Thought it might be due to slow file access (I had just installed and uninstalled some games), so I defragged. But that didn't change a thing. Baffled as to why the exact same setup that had been working all the time now got bugged, I extracted the emu to another directory, copied only the stuff needed for GT2 and then wiped the registry keys that hold the ePSXe settings. After reconfiguring the fresh copy, the sound worked again on the old one! So I figured the settings wipe had worked. Unfortunately, this has induced a far more annoying problem. Suddenly the analog refused to work. I've set the controller (Thrustmaster Firestorm dual analog) correctly, switched to digital/analog, but whenever I go to the options screen in GT2 I can't set the steering and acceleration/braking to analog, as if the game thinks no analog is plugged in at all. Strangely, it still worked on the secondary copy of ePSXe I extracted, even though it uses the exact same settings! Then I decided to make that my main directory, and copied the other plugins to it, as well as the memory cards. Result: the analog suddenly stopped working there as well! So far I've tried the following, without result:
I'm honestly getting desperate here. Hope someone has a few helpful hints. I'd be very grateful for anything leading to a solution or improvement. Here are the plugins I use for reference: gpu: Pete's OpenGL 1.76 spu: Pete's Op. S. DSound disk: One of Mooby's plugins Anyone know how I can adapt the input plugin? |

Hello Nekotaku and welcome to Emuforums.
You got a weird problem.... Let's start by the sound.I suggest you to use the Eternal spu plugin. For the analog stopping work.....Does the analog works normally with other games?(psx / windows games).Have you tried to reinstall your gamepad drivers? |

Ooookay, perhaps I hadn't really tried pressing F5... at the right time. I'm terribly sorry for bothering you folks. I tried pressing it as the game starts up, so that when the options are loaded it chooses the analog control. Problem solved. I'm still wondering why it worked before without intervention and then suddenly changed, though.
Anyway, thanks for checking out the thread, RedLion. |
