Configuring the 'Start' button?!!

Hi all.

I'm trying to configure the "Start" button as the "Return" key but whenever I try to press "Return" in the "Start" button's input box, it configures "R3" as "Return" instead of "Start" and also resets all my other control configurations.

Any ideas please?

That happens because when you hit Return key the "default" button is pressed so configuration resets,
as F3 is the last key to reset the Return get's mapped to it.

But there is a solution, it's a bit tricky but it should work if you do everything right.
  • Close ePSXe (If you have it running that is).
  • Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit, the Registry Editor should now open.
  • On the left side you will see keys, find this one "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\epsxe\config" and click on it.
  • On the right side find "Keys1" value and double click on it.
  • Delete the data and paste this: 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,28,0,0,0.
  • Press Ok and close Registry Editor.
Now when you open ePSXe Return will be mapped to Start.

Yep - you're switched on!

Just before I got this reply, I used a Commodore 64 emulator to see what the "Enter/Return" key's keycode was - you're right, it's 28. Thanks a bunch for highlighting which one that is in the ePSXe registry as well, I didn't have a clue about the button sequence order. Cheers, Pete.
