Controler/Keyboard Setup

Hello everyone (my first post )
Ok heres the problem, im currently trying to play FFIX, its all working smoothly, but here is the problem. When im setting up Pad 1, i change it to digital/analog. I can change all the buttons except the analog buttons, if you dont know what i mean ill explain better. At the moment the Y axis and X axis on the analog says NONE, when i try to change this it will not change. I use a keyboard btw, do i need to use a controller to use analog?

As far as I know, to set analog, you need an analog device as a gamepad. But with a game as FF9 I don't think analog is an important function (not finished the game for the moment but I didn't see the utility of that during playing it and I stopped on the middle of CD3).

in FF9 im pretty sure that analog is run and d-pad is walk?

If I remember correctly, to run you have to press circle.
