CDDA sound in mounted images - have read everything I can find and still no joy ...

Hello,

I'm having a problem with ePSXe 1.60 and both Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

I've been using ePSXe for a while now and everything plays wonderfully. Recently, I've decided to set up ePSXe with a MAMEWAH front end. Again, it all works very well, bar one thing. I'm using Daemon Tools to mount an image (ccd, created in Alcohol from original disks) before running ePSXe. No matter how I configure it, I can't get CDDA sound working (eg - in Rage Racer) using virtual drives (I've tried using Alcohol 120% too). I've been into the properties of each virtual drive and unticked 'digital audio'.

I've been reading up on this for several hours now and have got nowhere.

Can anybody help?

Thanks.

Jay

EDIT: Just so there's no confusion, I'm trying to fix this without the use of MAMEWAH (ie - I'm just running ePSXe), so MAMEWAH is definitely not a factor.

Edit#2: according to the Alcohol 120% manual, I should be able to set 'Directly output analog audio to DirectSound' in the Drive Parameters screen. But I don't have this option. Erk. Anybody know why?

Maybe your version of Alcohol 120% is out of date? Go File > Options > Virtual Drive > Drive Parameters to find that option.

But, besides, that I can't help you. Search perhaps?

Try just loading the image using Mooby's CDR plugin and configure it for CDDA playback. Select that plugin, and then go to File-->Run CD ROM and pick your ISO file.

The option isn't there (which is why I posted) and I already spent hours searching the internet.

Anyway, having done more investigating today, it turns out that the option was removed in the latest version. For shame.

I would love to use Mooby's plugin but it can't be run from the command line and the whole point is to have MAMEWAH run games automatically.

Thanks anyway.

Since posting this, I have found that an old version of Daemon Tools (3.47) has an 'analog audio' option. I've installed this and now I get the CD tracks playing in Ridge Racer Revolution (for example).

But now I don't get music in Star Gladiator although I did previously. ha ha there's always something ....

Cheers.

Jay
