How to use epsxe memory card saves for PS1 games on the PS2.

I dug up Final Fantasy VII and started playing it on my PS2. I found some cool gameshark codes I wanted to use so I bought the only cheat device that still exists for the PS1 that will work on the PS2, gameshark version 5. Turns out it doesn't have any FF7, so after 3 hours of entering codes the gameshark reads FF7 as a bad disc, or it freezes when the codes are booting, which it's clean, no scratches and has rarely been used, so it shouldn't be read as bad.

After a couple days of trying I started useing epsxe to play and use codes with PET, but this defeats the purpose of haveing a big plasma screen TV, so I want to switch back to using my PS2 to play. The problem is getting the save from epsxe and converting it to a type that the PS2 will read. I have a usb pen drive, a codebreaker for the PS2, an HDD, and Action replay Max for PS2 to transfer the codes.

To test it first I used the PS2 browser and transfered a PS1 save of FF7 to a PS2 memory card, then used the codebreaker to transfer the save to the pen drive, but transfering it changed the save to .cbs and PSXmemtool doesn't support that type, so I used Action Replay max and the save was changed to .max, which is also not supported by PSXmemtool, so I couldn't use the saves on epsxe.

What I want to do is transfer my FF7 save to my PC and then be able to use it on epsxe, then use codes from PET on it then transfer the save back to my PS1 memory card so I can play it on my PS2. How would I go about doing that, that doesn't deal with me having to buy anything else?

Hello OD_Edge and welcome to Ngemu forums.
For your problem you should get a Dex Drive so you could transfer Epsxe savegames to your PS2.Make a Jump to Ebay.

Thanks, but I've already wasted money and a week trying to find a gameshark for the PS1 that works for the PS2, and don't feel like buying something for $19 that I'll only use once or twice.

Would uLaunchELF reformat the .gme or epsxe mem save so I could transfer and play it from my PSX mem card? There's got to be some way convert .gme to a type usable on the PSX mem card.

You might want to try psxgameedit http://moberg-dybdal.dk/psxge/ plus there are links to manufacture your own PS1 card reader.

Did you ever find a way to accomplish this?
I have been searching forever and have found a couple ways to do it, but none of them seems to work.
