Hi there,
I've tried checking the forums for this specific problem, but I can't seem to find a solution for it. To begin with, I've downloaded ePSXe 1.60 and tried out my PS game on it, specifically Chrono Trigger (US-NTSC). I've tried the game, but the emulator does not allow me to save via memcard. I have tried a few other options discussed in forums like formatting the memcards, letting the bios create the memcard, and using memcard editors to create new memcards (and formatted them). I have tried creating a .MCR and a .GME, but still, the problem persists. Then, I tried turning on the log to see what specifically happens, and this is what came out when I run the PS bios and go to the memcard option : ================================================== ===== * Running ePSXe emulator version 1.6.0. * Memory handlers init. * ePSXe: PSX BIOS loaded [bios\SCPH1001.BIN]. * Doing init gpu[0]... * Gpu open[0]... * Direct input init ok. * Init core spu ... ok * Warning: The memcard [] has NOT been saved to disk ================================================== ===== The warning also shows up everytime I start to play a game. I am specifically concerned with the Warning: The memcard [] has NOT been saved to disk message and I am starting to wonder why the memcard was not saved to disk. I have tried several options like configuring the memcard to point to a directory in a FAT32 formatted disk (thinking that it might be the NTFS issue that does this), and even turning off my firewall. For additional information, below are the details of my ePSXe configuration : bios : scph1001 (US) video : Pete's OpenGL driver 1.76 (video card is nVidia GeForce) sound : ePSXe SPU core 1.52 cdrom : ePSX CDR WNT/W2K core 1.52 I also have a USB game controller installed, and properly configured in Windows, and in ePSXe. As for the PC configuration, I am running on Windows XP service pack 2 OS on a Centrino Duo processor. The primary partition is an NTFS, but there is a portion that has a FAT32 partition. (I have tried saving the memcard on both the NTFS and the FAT32 partition, and selected them properly using the ePSXe memcard configuration, to no success.) I just wanted to know what causes this problem and I hope someone here in the forum could help me. I also hope that all the information I have provided would be sufficient enough. ** I apologize if there is already a post here with the same problem, but I tried my best to use the search facilities, and examine the returns of the search. Thanks very much. Cheers! s_p_a_m_p_y |

First off, have you tried another PSX emulator to establish if this is a 'general' problem, or something specific with ePSXe?
Cause, to be honest, that is the only possible suggestion I can give to you. I don't think the File System of your hardrives is the culprit. Just in the possibility that you missed this, make sure that in the memcard selection window, in ePSXe, each memcard is directed to the 'Saves' directory of ePSXe and that you've typed a name for each memcard i.e. mempoopty.mcr Let us know if the same thing occurs with other PSX emu's. You can give PSXeven, SSSPSX or PCSX a go. You can use the same plugins that you have with ePSXe. r2rX

Hi there,
Thanks for the quick reply. Anyway, regarding this : Just in the possibility that you missed this, make sure that in the memcard selection window, in ePSXe, each memcard is directed to the 'Saves' directory of ePSXe and that you've typed a name for each memcard i.e. mempoopty.mcr The memcard directory that I specified in ePSXe contains the memcard, but regarding the saves, what should be contained in that? Also, I forgot to mention that I have also tried using PCSX, and even a lower version of ePSXe (1.5.2), but still the problem occurs. I'll try to download PSXeven and SSSPSX today, and find out if that same problem will occur. Cheers! s_p_a_m_p_y |

Still the same
Hi,
I've tried all your suggestions, like running my game on an PcSX and PSXeven, to no success. I even checked if the memcards are in read-only mode, but they aren't. I even tried altering the permissions to the folders (and sub-folders) for all users by setting them to full control. I couldn't think of anything else to change, unless I try the emulator and game on another PC. Do you think it has something to do with my Windows configuration, or Hardware confuration? I have the latest Windows Updates, and I'm thinking that the dll's might have and effect on that. This is not important, but I have a personal firewall, which I also turned off while trying to access the game. One thing I noticed is that there is no filename in the square brackets []. Should there be a filename there? I correctly specified the memcard files (newly created and formatted) before running the ISO file. I hope somebody could help me regarding this problem. It's been weeks and I haven't played a single game. Thanks. s_p_a_m_p_y |
