laggy keyboard controls

So i just recently downloaded EPSXE, and i've gotten FFVII to run, however the movement keys are LAAAGGGY beyond belief, and im not really certain what would cause this. I've used a couple of different gfx plug-ins, and, off of another post, im most recently trying Petes OGL plug in, and that is what i'm using with it now and is still giving laggy controls. anyone else have these problems?

AMD1800+, 1.25 GB ram, Radeon 9250 gfx, using ISOs, because, well, i'd liek to keep the disks in as good of shape as i can, and well, they're pretty bad already...

EDIT: and problem solved, oddly enough it was a sound plug in problem, ahh, my great ff7, how long it's been since i've beena ble to partake in your glory
