Creating ISOs
Can any one give me any links or pointers in how to create an ISO file for ePSXe please?
I have a couple of discs which work fine in ePSX3 but I want to create an ISO so I can run them from my hard disk like the other games I have. I have created an ISO image of these discs however they won't run in ePSXe. I would also like to know how to create an ISO with all the movies and music tracks stripped out so it is just the main game and sound effects. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance. |

yet another case of "seriously read the FAQ before you get castrated by an angry squirrel".

There are so many methods/alternatives to creating ISO's, it's ridiculous.
My most comfy means would be to use Alcohol 120%, using the 'Playstation' setting, as well as making it a .ccd (CloneCD) extension, rather than a .mdf/s extension. r2rX

Okay, thanks for the replies as the search function doesn't seem to be working. I have a couple of questions:
Will a .ccd image file run okay in ePSXe or does it have to be .iso? I have looked at Alcohol120 yesterday but it didn't have the option to make an iso file and I read somewhere that this option has been removed in recent releases. My main desire is to have an image file on my hard disc that ePSXe will read. A bonus would be if I could strip out the movies and music so it is just the program and sound effects but if not then the whole image file is fine. Thanks for your help with a newbie. |

It will work, but if you want real .iso extension use ISO producer.
As for removing the stuff out, it is possible but it is stupid, and that kind of games are often found on internet (illegal btw) and it happens that the games are broken then... trust me you don't want to deal with it.

and i really don't see the point in that though. Or do you have too little space to spare?
And i don't think you're allowed to even hint towards warez options.

That wasn't hinting i just said that many people come with that kind of games and say that the game is not working and want help
and you help just to find out that they have downloaded ripped game which is broken because the stuff are out. I mentioned this because i haven't seen anyone who is doing everything legal and want to remove the stuff out...

Okay, I got Ridge Racer 4 working great with ISO Producer although Wipeout 2097 is a different story - I can't get it to work. I'll try with Alcohol 120 and the .ccd option.
With regards to stripping out music etc. it is just to keep the file sizes down so I can take a few games with me on my laptop. |

there's no point stripping the music.
The psx music is in a format very similar to the .mid format. This format can hold 5 minutes of music in 50kb's.

Okay, Wipeout 2097 / XL is causing me a real problem. It plays fine in ePSXe from the CD-ROM but as soon as I create an image of it using ISO Producer or Alcohol, it won't play in ePSXe at all. Does anyone have any idea how to create an ISO of this game that will work with ePSXe from the hard drive?
I haven't tried creating a virtual drive for this image as I don't need to do this with any of my other images which all work fine. Any ideas? |
