How to get CDDA to work from CD?

I know that you can get cdda to work from ISO, but how do you get it to work from the CD? I have cdda enabled. My DVD writer does not have a audio connector thats supposed to go to the soundcard. Do you have to have that to have CDDA audio from cdrom?

from what i've heard, to get CDDA playing off CD, you will need that analog cord.
