xbox360 controller and epsxe...
mmk. for a couple of days now ive been occasionally messing around trying to get ape escape to work and be playable. now the graphics and sound are fine. but not matter what i do i cannot make epsxe work with the x axis(i think thats the left and right) of the right analog stick of my xbox 360 controller. up and down on the right stick will work but epsxe refuses to allow the left and right to be confgured with left and right on the stick. i dont have this problem in any other apllication(game or emu). as you know for ape escape you need to be able to use the full right stick to play it correctly. now ive tryed configuring it in other emus that use pad plugins and itll work fine then. but unfortunately no other emu ive tryed can go without: a. crashing immediately or b. crashing or just stopping right after the "this game requires an analog controller" message. anyway. is it possible to play this game with the only emu that actually works right with this game and fix the config issue(epsxe)? can others actually work without instantaneous suicide(ssspsx) or crashing/stopping after that msg(psxeven)? or is it just hopeless? *note: i was, at one point, able to configure it correctly in epsxe i think. but im not 100% on that as this is the first time ive actually needed to use the right stick in my long time using epsxe. are you using 1.6.0? try using 1.5.2, it has a little different controller thingy.. you could also try PCSX.

damn, i wish i had this game, not only because i really like it, but because i want to help. so what happens when you try to configure the right stick? the Y access will configure, but when you press on the X access, nothing happens at all? and only in ePSXe, right? PSXeven with a pad plugin will configure properly? hmm.. i wonder if for PSXeven if it's a configuration problem, try using peops software GPU with that and eternal for sound, i like harakiri's pad plugin but there are some other good ones too. you might wnat to try reinstalling your controller, just unplug it, delete drivers, and then plug it back in (the 360 drivers are automatic, right?)

ive did some tweaking to stuff in psxeven and pcsx and it doesnt crash now after that screen ive said. now itll just stop right there and go no further. or itll go to a screen that says theres no analog and then stops right there once again. no matter which pad plugin i use, and no matter how many times i hit the button thats supposed to switch it to analog i get that screen that says no analog. ive also tryed several pluin combonations. from my normal opengl2 and eternal spu config, to others like the software renderer and a different audio one and i get the same results. id try reinstalling the controller but i have my doubts that its the drivers as it works fine in anything else ive tried. and no the 360 drivers are not automatic. you have to download them to make it work. they dont have a default driver to use in windows. |

(long time listener, first time caller) I have to agree with you on the same issue. I have been using the 360 controller with every emulator I have and this is the only issue I have come to find. I went ahead for kicks and reinstalled the drivers and "configured" the joystick through control panel, but the thing works flawlessly with everything else. I haven't tried ape escape, but other analog games tend to find this issue as well. I love these controllers for their psx ability and compatibility with most emulators. I will keep testing myself to try and figure out the problem, but I have limited to no skills in coding. (plus I'd be willing to throw some money via pay pal to have fix the situation as a donation of course)

I have a different problem with my xbox 360 controller. I can't get the analogue triggers to function as L2 and R2 on espx. This would really be helpful to get it working as tapping l2 and r2 at the same time to get on your gears is much faster than going into the menu and changing the characters over.

Concerning the issue of Ape Escape telling you that it requires dual analogue sticks, even though it is set up fine, i used to have that problem. My solution was making an image of the C.D, and loading that straight through the emu. Hope that helps. ![]() r2rX

Sorry for the bump, but I've just been getting a 360 controller for my PC, and I kept an eye on this thread in hope that it'd only be a one off problem for an unlucky individual, but alas: I also have this very same problem. Everything except the left/right input on the right stick works fine. I tried the XBCD360 drivers too to no avail, I haven't yet tried any other plugins and right now I don't have the time too, I have to rush out but I will do later. |

ok i have the same problem (left-right movement of right stick doesnt work). People here are saying to use the dual action clone profile. I clicked on the link but i dont understand what to do with the profile. The guy on the post on the link that posted the profile doesnt give a download link. Its just a bunch of jibberish you cant put in xbcd 360 setup. Please tell me how to use this dual action clone profioe

I'm having some trouble too and same problems pretty much. Left and right work fine, the X axsis but the Y (up and down) won't work at all. Now the weird thing is, it works fine in FF9 and 7 but In FF8 its just all over the place and makes it almost impossible to control during the menu's. I've installed XBCD correctly but it didn't seem to solve the problem. The above links are to be honest outdated and not very helpful. People keep mentioning duel clone profile without actually explaining what it is or what needs to be done. |

change it to slider, or get the 0.2.6 version which contains some predefined profiles in a drop down list.
