Configuring gamepads manually?

I'm wondering if there's a configuration file that can be edited in epsxe to manually enter a button configuration for my controller. For some reason, both epsxe and Xorcist's controller config program map the R1 button to J1_B3, aka the X button.

When configuring other emulators that make use of shoulder buttons, like zsnes, I don't have this problem, so I'm thinking it's a bug in epsxe related to this particular controller. This comes as no surprise as it's just some $20 cheapie that I bought at Walmart, but if I could find a config file to edit, I'm sure I could fix this without having to go through the config process in the software.

Any ideas?

yeah, you can just go straight to the registry (go to Run, type in regedit, and search for PSemu)
