Trying to understand ePSX config, esp. Frame Rates?

A few questions from a Newbie... I guess many have been covered but bare with me

- Graphics config is pretty complex, why are Framerates not fixed at 60fps(ntsc) and 50 fps(pal). I'm not sure that games are running at a true speed.
- I'm playing Wipeout using an Exterminator game pad but the analogue controller doesn't respond (or in any other game come to think of it). Shall I get a new controller?
- Where's the Wipeout soundtrack? I've got a 500Mb ISO mounted with Alcohol.. oh hang on if I burned it to a CD would the CD play audio tracks?

Thanks..

XP2800 / 756Mb DDR333 / AC97 / GeForce MX440 64Mb / XP Pro SP2

1. You can either manually set the framerate limit or you can set it to Auto and let ePSXe do it for you.
2. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers?
3. You'll have to use Mooby's ISO plugin to play CDDA tracks. When you download it and get it all set up, go to File->Run CDROM, not Run ISO.

1. Basically to givbe you the choice. I can think of a few occasions where this might be useful

a) To speed up some games which had slowdown issues on the real psx (gran turismo 2 springs to mind)
b) NTSC/PAL patches
c) Personal perference.

some games on ePSXe have Frame rate problems, for example Rage Racer. you must use the PC FPS calculation special game fix in Pete's OpenGL plugin to get it to run smoothly. i've also found that this particular fix works well with MGS as well.
