Emmm... it depends on your hardware, for the begining go to: Kanes domain it should help you alot, as for ps2 converter... it's better to have psOne pad connected to it, becouse noone of those converters have drivers to use analogue buttons on PS2 pad (which means, that you'll have to push PS2 buttons much harder) for cheat code we have pec plugin. and finally if you want to use emu on your tv screen just config your gfx card that it'll send signal to tv (normally - as if you would like to see a movie from pc on tv)

Frontend? There are two I recommend. One is the one I use, Xeven's EmuFrontend (The BATARD Tool). The other is Beta's Delta autoloader tool, unfortunately the site for that appears to be down right now

He's talking about hte analog buttons. You have to press extra hard on the PS2's buttons compared to the PSX buttons because they are analog.

Also if you buy a dual pad adapter, make sure that you actually plug 2 pads in and not just 1. The drivers for those adapters always assume there is 2 pads present. The drivers will thus recieve rubbish from the missing 2nd pad and that can screwup pad configuration.

PS My site should (hopefully) be back up shortly.

1. Yes, by using a frontend (ePSXecutor) to select a PAD plugin. (Harikiri seems the only option.)

2. Proper English? I can't inter...your question. Try lowering your resolution.

3. The plugin should appear in your video plugin. Did you install it correctly?

You should try using Pete's OpenGL or OpenGL2 plugin with your video card, it will work better than the D3D plugin. Try pressing F5 when you're in the game, older games won't function if you have it in analog mode.

You can't use an external pad plugin with ePSXe . That feature was added to ePSXecutor in anticipation for it being added in ePSXe 1.6.0 but it ended up not making it in the release (hard drive crash I think).

I don't understand you guys who use front ends, changing couple of settings is just a matter of seconds :P, but, it's only me

A couple of reasons basically:

1. Changing a couple of settings only takes a second, but optimising a configuration for some of the really fussy games (MGS springs to mind) can take ages. It's nice to be able to recall that exact configuration without the need of a photographic memory
2. Frontends have built in memcard managers.
3. For cd users, they add autoplay support to the emus.
4. With regards to my own frontend delta, it has a "detect best" button for each plugin group. This is useful for noobs who are endlessly asking "what's the best plugin to use" on the forums.
5. Again with regards delta, it has autoconfigure script support. Download the script, stick in the game cd, and delta selects the best plugins for your system, configures those plugins for that game, applys those settings to epsxe and runs the game. It's just a pity I can't get more folks to write those script files .
6. A few frontends have image creation support, which is handy. In my case I linked that into the autoplay routine and the bzip2 compression library. Hence delta can create compressed image files on-the-fly simply by sticking the cd in your pc.
7. They allow you to launch individual games via the start menu.

But ultimately the main reason is choice. Frontends are companion utilites which add extra features to help improve the overall experience. It is up to the user to choose if they what to use them or not, but it is nice to actually give folks the ability to make that choice .
