Chronic HDD Activity
No actual problems running ePSXe, speed/sound/etc is perfect. Its just that after a couple minutes of running an ISO, my hard drive light blinks like mad, and doesnt stop for some time.
Sorry, just read the rules... System Specs-- 2.4 Celeron Ghz 40 Gb HDD 248 Mb System memory Radeon 4X AGP ePSXe 1.6.0 -P.E.Op.S. Soft 1.15 (everything set to 'nice,' save scanlines & uses system memory). Prob still occured when I had 64 Mb allocated to video memory, so I set ePSXe to try use system memory instead. -Eternal SPU 1.41 Lite (DirectSound, 'Timer' audio out waits for XA buffer) -P.E.Op.S. CDR 1.4 (IOCTL scsi, BE-2 ATAPI 2, 'Thread read' cache mode) Specific games that exhibit the problem range from Castlevania SOTN, to Fatal Fury WA, to Einhander. Did you try defragmenting your hard drive?

Hi. Yah, I defrag regularly.
One more thing I should have mentioned is that the problem more or less goes away whenever there is a loading point in the game (whether loading a new level, or repeating a music track). I've fiddled with the sound & CDRom plugins, but should they even matter even when the emu is not reading off an actual CD? |

You could try using Mooby's plugin and increasing the cache size. I wouldn't set it very high though, since you don't have too much RAM.
