I doubt ePSXe has halted. It's probably not there #1 priority anymore... so any future versions are still just speculations...
As for pad plugin support, I doubt it will be added. It's bee discussed alot and it seems like the ePSXe team decided to stick with internalpassupport for 1.6.0

Why would you want a plugin for it anyways? ePSXe seems to have everything you could need... Was there a particular feature you were after?

Internal plugins are very good. Only option that is missing is support for two multitaps, but actually many few people will need that option.

Actually that would be incorrect. Pad plugin support was planned for 1.6. However the code written for that was lost due to hard disk failure.

Well, ePSXe is missing support for a controller featured as supported in many games, Namco´s NegCon , it has its own protocol and support in games as you can see they even have models and animations in-game for when you configure it (in Wipeout at least, and maybe Ridge racer series as it is the official controller), which you cant get in epsxe, if you want to see this try padgnneco controller plugin in PSXeven and Wipeout 1 or 2 (XL/2097).

You can try to make it pass as an analog dualshock controller on ePSXe but it misses some features and its not recognized as a NegCon by the games that support it. Also in Wipeout xl this renders pitch control or analog control useless making you dispose from one of them; and it also doesnt display the animations for the negcon at the controller configuration screen.

btw Orysyz, why do you consider internal plugin better that external?

First off, you're likely to be told off by the mods here for reviving a thread this old. If you wish to re-animate the corpse of an old discussion, try making a new thread and putting a link to the old one in your post.

Second, ePSXe is no longer under development, and is closed-source. The developers have all gone on to do other things, and the source is not available for "someone" to tinker with. So your chances of seeing any kind of pad plugin for ePSXe are somewhere between 0 and -0.

Last, even if pad plugin support were available on ePSXe as it is on several other emulators (PSXeven, sssPSX, PCSX, etc), you still wouldn't get neGcon support, as that would require special Windows drivers or possibly even special hardware to get the controller's functions to be available to software running in Windows. The neGcon was never popular enough for any manufacturer of PSX controller adapters to consider doing anything to support it.

*cough*

anyway, beyond that, ePSXe doesnt support pad plugins, which, if you had read the thread, you would've known.

your only hope is that a pad plugin is made for PSXeven or SSSPSX, etc. i dont even know if the negcon's twisting action is represented by your USB PSX adapter...go to the control panel's "game controllers" option and see if the twisting function is even represented. if not, then you're SOL. just play with the dpad (or on an original playstation).

lastly, you shouldnt've replied to an old thread with such a useless reply.
