That's my problem. I'm using ePSXe 1.6.0 and the save state feature won't work for me. I'll load up a game and I can see the DOS window, and pushing the F1-F3 will show that the state was saved/loaded or a different slot was chosen, but nothing shows up in the sstates folder. I know the whole save state issue is that all of the bugs aren't worked out, but actual save state files are able to be made, right? Any answers? (By the way, I've just got into PSX emulation; I'm not up to snuff on everything about it.)

Hmmm. Are they present when you press f1-3 after a restart?

They're never made in the first place. I've tried running the emulator in a window with the sstates folder in the background, and nothing shows up.
Has anyone had this problem before? I've scoured through the forum for a possible answer to this problem before I started this thread, but came up empty.

Hmm the ssates directory is present, so I'd have to assume it's a working folder problem... Are you running from a shortcut? dosprompt?

I've tried running the emulator from a shortcut, the DOS prompt, and manually through the installation folder, but I still can't save.
I'm running XP Pro under a user with full admin rights, and there aren't any restricting permissions on the installation folder. Input in the emulator works. I've used Pete's D3D/OGL 1.75 and OGL2 2.5 plugins. I've double checked the DOS window that pops up when a game starts, and I don't see any errors. Are there any background services/programs that would trigger this problem? I don't get it. The only thing I can think of is obtaining a save state file and seeing if I can load it. What's the file extension and naming convention for the save state files?

Is the save state folder protected? I once copyed my ePSXe folder to a cd and when I put it back on my HD I couldn't rewright savestates cause they had been turned into read only files.

ive got a similar problem, savestates work, but i cant do anything with saving to a memory card. i get a "Warning:the memcard [somethingsomething.mcr] has NOT been saved to a disk" error. how do i save it? i have yet to see any sort of save option other than a savestate, which i dont think is the same as the mcr file. havent found any help on this in the documentation either

Ok the problem there is you broke the "thou shalt not mix memcards and savestates" commandment
. If you use savestates, sometimes memcards get saved in the savestate, not to disk. In general it's best to use one or other. (In the case of multi cd games it's advisable NEVER to use states)

config->memcards
insert the name of the memcard file here. If that file doesn't exist it will be created when you first save. Failing that try using a frontend such as my delta frontend or pete's epsxecutor (both on the tools section of this site).

...?
How do you save to a memory card? Just like you would if you were playing on the psx.

I actually have the exact same issue ever since installing sp2
I dual boot xp/98se and under 98 sstates work fine (and I run epsxe on both versions in the same folder and with the exact same epsxecutor stettings except for the cd drive letter). Now when I check my properties for any folder read-only has a square in it (ALL my directories). I didn't notice that before sp2. Could it be related somehow ? And if so anyone has any idea how to fix that ? |

Try clicking on the square. I think a check means everything is set to read only, square means only certain things are read only, and no check/square means nothing is read only.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention something very important. The square appears even on new empty folders (hence even when the sstates directory is also empty). And when I uncheck it, as soon as I close the properties window and open it up the square is back ...
