It' slow and choppy with the screen on, but when I close the screen it works fine...

Alright. Here's the problem. When I load an Iso or CD-ROM, they are BOTH choppy and slow. The video is very choppy and slow and the sound skips every other beat so you can't make out any music. But when I exit out of the initial epsxe window and only the black window with words on it is left, the sound is fine. Is this a common problem? Is it my video? (I've got Pete's OpenGL driver and use the 'fast settings' in configuration.) Any help would be appreciated.

He's right. That second post would be considered "thread bumping," which is against our rules.

Re: It' slow and choppy with the screen on, but when I close the screen it works fine...

Oops, sorry about that. I haven't had much free time in the past days and I get impatient when I don't have time. Anyway, it's not just one game. It's had the same problems for Crash Bandicoot 1, Spyro 1, and FF VII CD-ROMS and and it did it when I created and ran ISOs for Crash and Spyro using Isobuster. My settings are:
Texture quality: R8 G8 B8 A8
Texture filtering: 0
Hi-Res:0
GFX card: 0

FPS limit: on
Frame skipping: off
Auto-detect: on

Off-screen drawing:3
Framebuffer textures: 2
Framebuffer access: 0
Alpha MultiPass: on
Mask bit: on
Advanced blending: on

Misc:
Special Game fixes:
00002

P.S. I've tried other settings, too. I don't know what else to do.

Re: It' slow and choppy with the screen on, but when I close the screen it works fine...

what special game fixes do you have on? i cant tell from what you put...i dont know where that 2 really belongs. anyway for the most part you dont need special game fixes, andthere is a copy settings button in Pete's plugins.

also, what other settings have you tried? try www.lordkane.co.uk

what are your computer's specs?

Re: It' slow and choppy with the screen on, but when I close the screen it works fine...

Sorry about that. Seriously. I'm running on 3 hrs. of sleep. I thought I had copied my settings. Umm, how do I copy my settings? All I know is that I have Pentium 4 with 256 MB Ram with Windows XP with GeForce 2. I'm sure there's more, but I don't know how to find it.

Re: It' slow and choppy with the screen on, but when I close the screen it works fine...

There is a 'Copy info' button in Pete's plugins. Paste that stuff here.

Are you sure it's a geForce 2, and not a PowerVR based card, as it says on the Hercules site? Because that is a completely different kettle of fish. A geForce 2 is easy to set up for. A PowerVR is a complete *****.
