Running games
I can't run games, ISOs or CDs. I can run the bios alright, but when I try to run the game nothing happens, the screen just goes black. I used to have it working on my computer, but I just installed it again after reformatting my HDD, and now it doesn't work.

Re: Running games
Alright, I've tryed running Ape Escape and Dragon Ball Z Ultimate battle 22.
CPU: Pentium III Ghz Mem: 384 mb OS: Windows XP Home Graphics Card: ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV I think that's all, do you need any other info related to the computer? Configuration: Video: Pete's D3D Driver 1.75 (default settings for fast) Audio: ePSXe SPU Core 1.5.2 Cdrom: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2. I don't think it has anything to do with the actuall PC, because I ran it fine on this same computer before I reformatted the HDD, and besides that everything (as far as my PC's specs) is the same. |

Re: Running games
me thinks it could be your CDR plugin that could be causing the problem. Try PEOPs CDR Plugins (always seems to work better for me) and maybe post your video configuration. Setting it to fast can sometime not be the right configs

Re: Running games
I seem to be having the same problem. I have just downloaded ePSXe today, and when I try to start gran turismo 2 I just get a black screen. I'm testing it with the original disc from the game. I haven't got any other PSX games at the moment, so I'm not completely sure if it's just gran turismo or if it would occur with all games.
I have been able to run the game twice for some reason, but if I try it again with the same config, it doesn't work anymore. It just seems to be working randomly. I have tried it with ePSXe 1.5.2 and ePSXe 1.6.0. In ePSXe 1.5.2 I get the following output: * Running ePSXe emulator version 1.5.2 * Memory handlers init. * ePSXe: PSX BIOS loaded [D:\games\epsx\epsxe\Bios\scph7502.bin]. * Init cdrom ... ok * Cdrom open... ok * Force PAL cdrom detected. * Doing init gpu[0]... * Direct input init ok. * Doing spu init... * Spu open... * Pad Digital enabled. After this the output stalls. I can boot up the bios. I am running the emu on an athlon xp 1600+, 512MB Ram, geforce 4 ti4200 on Windows XP Professional. |

Re: Running games
one thing that hit my eye was "Interface: W2/XP - IOCTL raw reading" inside your CD plugin. Recalling correctly, that was the only option that gave a black screen for me too.
Try this: change that option to the other IOCTL option, or install ForceASPI and try the ASPI option |

Re: Running games
Thanks for the help.
The problem was indeed the cd-rom. I solved it by auto-detecting the read method. Also, when I close epsxe, it seems that it doesn't really close the process, just the window. I have to kill the process using the task manager to be able to start the game again. Maybe that's the same problem the topicstarter has? |
