CDrom read problem.

I got a problem with reading cdroms. Most games i have tends to lagg because the CDrom loads in the middle of the game. Is there anyway of fixing this? Is there any certain cdrom plugin/settings i shoudl use?
I have a Pioneer DVD-106 player.

Re: CDrom read problem.

Well long shot this but the lag on fast cd drives are usually caused by large spin up/down times... try using peops and limit the cd speed to something slower, that way the spin up time is reduced.

Re: CDrom read problem.

use Nero Drivespeed. you can set it to never spin down, so then you wont have to worry about it.

alternately you can just man an ISO.

Re: CDrom read problem.

Use a virtual cd-rom such as daemon's to mount the iso too...that way you can still use your normal cd rom plugin, and have the speed of an iso

Re: CDrom read problem.

Sorry forgot my graphiccard. its a Geforce4 Ti4600 8X AGP.

the grafix plugin is Petes Opengl Driver 1.75

settinsgs, are set to Nice and resultion to 1024x768, i also enabled texturefiltering 4. (extened w/o sprites).

i use FPS limit and its set to autodetect, if i dont use it it runs at a way to high framerate.

When between the lags the gameplay is perfect and there isnt even a slightest tendence of lag.

the sound plugin is eternal SPU plugin 1.41 with default settings

and enable CDDA sound and enable XA sound

i have the same problem with video lag. An example is in Final Fantasy 7 the video starts to lag when I enter a battle and leave a battle. I have a 2.8 ghz pentium 4 with a radeon 9800 graphics card and a gig of ram. Is there anyway to make the game run smoothly? thanks

anders: if you have wait for CPU then take off Frame Limiting in your GPU plugin (IIRC)

dogkor: go to www.lordkane.co.uk for an excellent FF7 config for Pete's OGL. you also might want CloneCD or Alcohol120% to make an ISO.
