ePSXe 1.60 + Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 = ESC trouble
With the new ePSXe 1.60
My configuration: VIA KT400 AMD XP1.6+ ATI Radeon 8500 with Catalyst 3.5 (I'm doing a new update today, after a long while :P). some generic 54x CD ROM Windows 2K Pro, SP4 DirectX 9 I've used ePSXe 1.52, i've used Pete's Open GL 1.47 and D3D too, all in all combined ways possible. That match on the title is the only one this error happens: Whenever I hit ESC to go to the menu, I can't go back to game without crashing. I get application error and everything close. Be it using the Continue, Load State or even Reset. It says: The instrucion at "0x78010703" referenced memmory at "0x000000000". The memory could not be "read". I've only tried with one CD game, tho. I'm lazy to change! :P And I believe / hope it's not relevant. |

Re: ePSXe 1.60 + Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 = ESC trouble
i had the same annoying problem with my ATI AIW 9800 pro. Although this may not be 100% correct for your gfx card, it should work if your card is Radeon. first, update your card, using the latest catalyst 3.9 drivers(make sure your card is supported before installing), get it here: http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
If you get an error after installing catalyst 3.9 while using a opengl based plugin, check with ati's website for the fix (FYI, it's a problem with loading opengl based operations). i'd give you a direct link, but it's only for All-In-Wonder cards. in any case, here's the link; http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4295.html If you are still having problems, this link should help; http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthre...eadid=33721234 |

Re: ePSXe 1.60 + Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 = ESC trouble
Thanks for all attention.
![]() I've updated my Catalyst already, but I'll restart my machine only later, since it works as (little) internet server and i got some stuff to finish before restarting. Anyway, I believe I didn't make myself clear because I forgot to add one thing: I got it working fine with the post title's combination. It works all right as long as I don't hit ESC to go to the menu. I was just wondering if I'm the only one with that issue, considering I have a pretty unique configuration. Anyway, if AIW cards with new Catalyst are having troubles with openGL, it's much more likely it will happen to me too. I'll just try before getting any patch. Thanks for the input!

Re: ePSXe 1.60 + Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 = ESC trouble
I have a 9800 with the cat 3.7 and no problem with them with any emulator, the crash when presing esc was a driver issue that i think was solved in cat 3.6,

Re: ePSXe 1.60 + Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 = ESC trouble
Yes, that's right. The new Cat 3.9 fixed that, but brought me new troubles :P
I got no speed or performance improvement. I still can't use Full framebuffer effects, otherway on some momments I get 30 FPS or less. But, before the patch, the Standard mode worked very well with transparency on some situations, and now it doesn't work anymore unless I change to Full. :P Adding to that, on some intense graphical momments, I get now funny little bugs on the display, while playing. In fact, I wish to change back to Cat 3.5 but I never did any driver downgrade like that. Is there a simple way or will I have to uninstall, get the screen to go 640x480 with some standard windows driver and then install the prior version back? |

Re: ePSXe 1.60 + Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 = ESC trouble
I noticed that the "esc-and-can't-return" issue you all talking about is because of driver.
I just want to know if there's any other driver(a full list if possible) would solve the problem. BTW, I'm using P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.15. Thanks |

Re: ePSXe 1.60 + Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.2 = ESC trouble
Right now I'm using Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.75 with Catalyst 3.9 and it's best result I got so far. With Cat 3.9 I never had the ESC trouble again.
