Mandrake 9.1 w/ AC97 - no sound or video to config
I did some searching on the forums. Either I'm too tired to find and it's sitting under my nose or my fuzzy slippers are playing tricks again. Either way here it goes.
I'm running Mandrake 9.1 (yeah) and my sound card is the AC'97 thinga majig. When I unzip the epsxe into it's own directory and place the bios file (and yes I actualy own a psx) into the bios directory, espx will tell me that I need to select the bois file. Fine, I do that but I notice that when I click on config then Video OR Sound it shows as 'DISABLED'. I'm a missing something? In my windows box it just selected something for me and away I went I don't remember having to get anything extra..er maybe I did for some plug in thing. I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. --- As I wrote this I relized that I needed the silly plugin and downloaded them. So far so good, can't get it to load a cd... have it set to /mnt/cdrom any suggestions? Last edited by drake2k; November 9th, 2003 at 04:38. |

I don't think you are suppose to use the CD-ROm in the /mnt directory. I think you have to use the CD-ROM path in the /dev directory

Your right. I used /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 and it worked perfect. I'm a linux newbie obviously. I used the /mnt because that was what mandrake stuck on my desktop. Is that a windows way of thinking or what. LOL Okay, it's working now. The CD that is. Here is another question. I have the plug-ins I got from Pete Bernert's website (the only linux ones I could find)... but I can't configure them. I can click the test button and that works okay but when I click the configure button it does nothing. I want to change a few options... any ideas on that one? |

Copy the file "libgpuPeteMesaGL.so.x.x.x" into the emu's /Plugin directory The files "spuPeteMesaGL.cfg" and "cfgPeteMesaGL" should be copied together into another directory (see next section, "cfg" sub dir recommended). Then you can hit the "config" button and the window should pop up

Yup, that's it i'm tired. I think I'll go home now. It worked, I put those to files in the epsxe root directory and i was able to change the screen settings for that plug in. that's the mesaGL driver. I'll play with it some more next week to see if I can get it to go the least bit faster. It's slower then snail snot. When I use the SoftX driver it runs like a dream but I can't configure it and the screen size is very small. Now upon trying one more time It won't work at all... Ugh.. I'm going to bed. wish me luck for next week and any final words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated as was the last. |

Re: Mandrake 9.1 w/ AC97 - no sound or video to config
Crap, where did I go wrong now. If you can please help.
I did a complete re-install of mandrake 9.1 using KDE desktop I loaded all the files into my home dectory /home/epsxe deleted all the 'delete.me' files and loaded my bois file into the bios directory. Put Pete's OSS plug in into the plug in directory and the cfg files into the cfg dirctory then did the same with his gpu driver. before I had to do a re-instal I did pretty much this same thing and it worked, slow but it worked. Now when I double click on the epsxe icon nothing happens at all it won't load. I took out the plugins to see if maybe there was a conflic and figured it would get the program without video and sound support. nadda. Then I re-installed it to no avail. What am I missing? |

Re: Mandrake 9.1 w/ AC97 - no sound or video to config
Start it from the command line, to see any error messages popping up. With Mandrake 9.1, you need additional steps to get it all running properly, see http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35015
