setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
ok so i decided to set up another computer for ePSXe so a friend could bring over his memory card (on a floppy disk) and continue his game here. however...this computer isnt great. I'm only trying to play one game: Vagrant Story. however, i tried the PEOPS plugin (horrible colors and speed) and pete's openGL, D3d (crashes) and they do not work. i am playing from an iso made from the real, legal CD and with cloneCD.
here are the computers specs (please ignore my signature as this is not the computer i am trying to configure): 800 mhz celeron intel 82810 graphics 128 mb RAM XP Pro all i want to do is make the game playable at fullspeed. it doesnt have to look great, i just want >>playable<< |

Re: setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
lol thats basically what my system was except i have a slighly..better card and a little more ram. but ePSXe should play ok. with my 82810 i used Pete's DX6 D3D and it worked fine. games would run full speed but with no real enhancements.

Re: setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
you could try using another soft plugin such as E}I{'s plugin or Kazooya's plugin.

Re: setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
I used the dx6 d3d plugin on my friend's comp and his comp has the 82810 and it ran FF8 pretty good with the exception of the battle swirls
. I can ask him if he still has the config for it.edit: I asked my friend for the config but he can't get epsxe or most other emulators to run on his comp so I can't give you his config. Last edited by n_w95482; August 20th, 2003 at 06:05. |

Re: setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
Have you tried updating the chipset drivers? Try going to "select device" and reselect the video "card". Try reinstalling epsxe and the plugins or just the plugins. Are you using the latest ones?

Re: setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
i got new 82810 drivers for windows XP. i reselected the device in the plugin. i didnt reinstalled the plugins though, i dont want to go through the registry when i have it working with the other plugin. this is simply a minor annoyance....
im using pete's 1.74....i shouldnt have covered it up in the above picture, sorry. oh well, this might not last long...im looking at cheap PCI videocards (just to play CS and ePSXe) |

Re: setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
A gforce4 mx 420 (or 440, 460) is a good PCI card and it only costs about $55-60 on newegg. I had one in my comp and it worked well but it was bottlenecked by my slow processor so I put it in my friend's comp. At 800x600 rez it can play CS in opengl mode at 70-100 fps no prob (using 43.45 drivers). It also played epsxe at full speed. His comp has a 933 mhz p3 and is running windows ME
. Now he can't run most emulators because windows gets all weird about the keyboard and the 386enh line in the system.ini file .

Re: setting up ePSXe on my other computer....
yeah, i was thinking about going down to Fry's and getting the MX440 PCI or something similar...i dont need too much speed.
my other OTHER computer with 800 mhz P3, XP home and TNT2 plays CS and ePSXe fine, that's what im aiming for here |
