If you are going to do everything BUT PC games, GET A VOODOO 5 5500 AGP! It has great plugins to back it up, and it is FAST for emulating games, espesically with FSAA and AF ( up to 4x AA ( 6x with hacks ) and 64-tap ( 64x ) AF! )
More then just emulation? Do what yeloazndevil said, here is a list of sites:
www.ebay.com http://auctions.yahoo.com
www.newegg.com www.tigerdirect.com www.ati.com froogle.google.com

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

I wouldn't say that. The Voodoo is great as an extra card, but with a geForce 3 or above, you have a more than adequete card for emulation.

Getting a Voodoo 5500 would mean your limiting yourself where as a GF4 4200 (good card for the price) would allow you to play pc games and do emulation easy.

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

Unless you have a good AGP card [like myself with GF3], you can get that V5 5500 PCI version and use it to work with older games / PSX and N64 emulations.

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

Rivers for nvidia go for a geforce 2mx/400 or better card. If you wanna play at higher resolutions thn 800x600 with all options enabled and wanna get a good speed go for a geforce 4 4200 or better card.

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

Buy a radeon/geforce, voodoo's is only limited to do emulation or older 3dfx only games.

If you want good/cheap radeon 9500 pro is arguably the best choice in performance/price ratio.

If that's too expensive get a Geforce 4 ti 4200 or a Radeon 9100 (8500 in disguise) both do not support DX9 tho.

True. But if yuo get the 9600pro you can softmod it (meaning move a slider in a software program) And overclock it past the 9500pro and close to the 9700pro range.

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

Hmm, how about when a 9500 pro is overclock as well, how do they compare? Has anyone compare them?

Isn't the price of those 9600 pro and 9500 pro are about the same in some places?

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

Maybe in some places. The 9500pro is more expensive wher I look. I think the 9500pro can be overclocked better but its more of a hardware thing.

if you're looking for a card solely for epsxe playing, you don't need too much. you can easily get buy with a geforce 2 ultra or any one of the last GF2 cards.

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

Yes. Thats why I wanted a link. I dont know why ATI would waste ther time doing that on there cards. That is for the budget gamer. Or shall I say non-gamer. Cuz that card stinks.

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

I say if you're gonna use the card only for emulation, get a voodoo 5 5500 pci. You could always get a gforce fx 5200 but those suck compared to other cards (they are cheap tho). If you want something decent, look at a 9600 pro or non-pro from ati (or a 9500 pro/non pro if you can find one) or a gf4 ti series card (4200 or 4400 would work well) from nvidia. It depends on whether you are going to do just emulation or pc games too (and the games that you will play).

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

I'm pretty satisfied with my RADEON 9500 PRO. ATI makes awesome cards, but NVidia is pretty stable as well. I'd go to http://www.pricewatch.com. They have stuff for sale and its pretty cheap.

Re: good graphic cards for ePSXe

Also do you wanna be able to play next-gen emulators like PCSX2 and CXBX ? If so get a DX9 card.
