epsxe crashes entire computer every 5 minutes
I've been using epsxe for a few weeks and about 10 hours worth of total game time and haven't had any problems until now. After playing any game for around 5 minutes my entire computer spontaniously reboots. The only thing that's changed is that now I'm playing with a game pad. Is it possible that adding the game pad is making epsxe do weird things? If anyone else has had computer crashing problems, please let me know how you fixed it.
Thanks, -Nordo |

Re: epsxe crashes entire computer every 5 minutes
Try again without the pad, it might be the drivers. Is it analogical? Has it force feedback? Analog/ForceFeedback support is still WIP in ePSXe.

Re: epsxe crashes entire computer every 5 minutes
geeko, your problem will be WindowsME which is awful for...well just about anything actually. Try and score yourself a copy of Windows 98SE....
I had this problem last night, but it was after having the computer on for about 5 hours playing Xenogears....the computer made a high pitched squeal and then rebooted. It's not really surprising given the HW/SW combination I'm using (Athlon 1800+ on an ASUS board with a Via Chipset, SB Live 5.1, GeForce Ti4200 and Windows 98SE...Yikes!), but 5 hours is a good enough innings for me. 5 Minutes is pretty rubbish tho....Is it a USB gamepad? I know that Windows support for the old Gameport is getting worse with each release. Try it with and without the Gamepad to verify that it's actually causing a problem..... |

hmmm...try turning of windows messenger service. I know it sounds strange, but those damn ads kept kicking me out of my game and sometimes would overload the CPU and reboot. But it would only happen when I would be using a CPU heavy game (usung onboard sound and USB, so taking power away from processor)

I had the same problem very recently - I played for about 3 or 4 minutes then the computer made a very strange noise and restarted itself. But I found the problem - I was using my graphics card's dynamic gamma adjust - after disabling it the problem was gone. You should check your video card settings and disable the gamma control if you use it. It should help. It worked for me.
