Question
I am sorry if this has been asked before or if it is a little vague. I'm trying to play Final Fantasy 9 on the emulator and this is my first time using it. When I click file, then cdrom, a black screen appears but then disappears. It used to tell me the program needed to shut down until I switched to OpenGL but now it just removes the screen. In the DOS prompt is says,
"init cdrom ... ok" "cdrom open ... ok" "NTSC cdrom detected." "Doing init gpu[0]..." "GPU open[0]..." "Direct input init ok." "Init core cpu ... ok" "Closing core cpu ..." "Closing gpu ..." "Shutdown gpu ..." Opcode 2F UNK <PC 00042944> <348,16> What I'm wondering is if this is caused by the game, my config settings, or something else. Thanks. |

Ok. My computer specs are 2.53 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 Processor, 1024 MB PC2700 DDR RAM, Radeon 9700 Pro Video Card, On-board sound.
These are my config settings: CD-ROM: Sound: Video: Hope that is all of it. I also tried FFXIII and that did not work either so I know its not just the CD. Both CDs are the original games. |

Disable 'Enable SPU IRQ hack', and switch to the Eternal 1.41 SPU plugin. If you are using FVP, you really should set Framebuffer access to 0. Change the off-screen drawing down to 2. Unless you are using the PAL version of FF9, disable subchannel reading, it's very slow.

First of all, peops cd-r:
> Caching mode: None - Change this thread. > Try again on reading error: Disabled - Enable this and set it to ten. Second, the spu: I suggest you get a better spu like eternal 1.4 or peops 1.7. If you do that, uncheck 'Enable SPU IRQ hack'. Finally, the gpu: Pete's opengl is not the best choice when using ATI cards, as direct3d works faster with them. However, some users (like me ) can't use direct3d cause it crashes tehir systems. So try if you can use Direct3d, and if not, return to opengl.<FrameBuffer textures: 3 - Put this to 0, as you are using FVP. Or change framebuffer access to 3. But, with an ati card and opengl, it'll probably be better 0-4 (i've got a 9500 pro, and it's slow as hell with anything other than 0-4). Enable 'Use FPS limit', or your games will be unplayable. And use texture filtering 2 for FF9, it doesn't like higher values. You can raise it for other games though. Edit: BTW, pete's are on version 1.71.

So same as me. Pete knows of this issue, and has said that he will try to fix it ASAP, as he has gotten recently an ATI card. Until then, will have to use opengl.
