I'm playing Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories from CD and can't seem to save.
I was able to save before using ePSXe, but now I can't seem to anymore, could it be because I loaded a savestate and tried to save from that? Or could it be that I deleted my memory card file, though I'm not even sure if I touched the ePSXe folder after I downloaded it and put in all the plugins and bios. Can someone tell me whats wrong? I have two files in my memcard folder epsxe000.mrc and epsxe001.mrc if anyone wants to know...here, I'll even attach the files they zip to only a few kbs.

Well, according to the memory card you attached, there is a saved game from Yu-Gi-Oh. Make sure ePSXe is configured to load that memory card properly (Config -> Memory Card). If you want to check if ePSXe is loading your memory card correctly, you can click on "Run BIOS". That will open the PSX's own memory card editor. If the Yu-Gi-Oh's saved game is there, it means that ePSXe is configured properly. In this case, try pressing F4 before saving (or was it F5? I think it's F4...).

I know that there is a save already, as I've stated I've been able to save successfully before. Unfortunally, I did a savestate the last time I played and turned off my computer before getting a chance to do an actual save. And now I cannot save from the savestate, that is my problem

I am not familiar with the game, but this happened to me too with final fantasy 8. what i did was write down all the items i had, downloaded a save state at the start of the next disk, and used PEC to get back all the items i had. Dunno how hard that would be with a Yu-Gi-Oh game, but its an idea.

er...ok let us see if we understand what went on...you used a save state and are now trying to do a game save...
A quick breakdown of save state / save usage... save states not only save the game at the exact spot you left it...it also saves ePSXe's exact configuration when playing that game....this means that if you made the save state..and a memory card originally did not exist..the even if you have a memory card in there..and then try to load state you will no longer have the memory card there....so if your memory card wasn't there or changed when you did the save state..then you will not be able to save because ePSXe doesn't think it exists.....you have to be very careful when using save states... a suggestion...there is a tool called PSXMEMTool from good ole UncleClive..it has a cool ability to snatch out memory card saves from ePSXe save states...so maybe you can still find your mem save... |

I had this problem to where I could save but couldn't load afterwards. What I had to do was delete both memory cards and resave. Then it worked fine.

That reminds me. You haven't accidently set your memory cards to read only by any chance (this happens eg by backing them up onto cd)? You can check by right clicking on the memcard in explorer then selecting properties.

Forbidden Memories records the number you save, so if you save onto the card, then load state, you can't save anymore. Try load the memory card then save. You can load savestate and save if you didn't save onto card first.
