graphics and sound sux...

im newbie here.

my ePSXe shows the games in a realy ugly display. for instance crash 3 or chrono cross show the characters with lots of NOTICABLE cubes, when i saw some s-shots and the graphics showd be more sharp.
about sound, it 'ticks' or 'cuts' while it plays the music (or speach)
in movies all sounds just getting stuck in a single anoying note...
what to do?
im using peops soft drive 1.11 for gpx and eternal SPU plug 1.30 for snd.

If you have a good 3D accelerator card then try using Pete's D3D or OpenGL plug-in. The one you're using is a software driver so you'll get clunky, ugly graphics with it.

First, use a hardware-accelerated GPU plugin, like Pete's OGL. The graphics will look much better, but you may sacrifice some accuracy in certain special effects. Whether you're bothered by that is a matter of preference.

As for the sound, I would start by increasing the buffer size.

Of course, I make these recommendations having no idea what kind of hardware you're working with.

ok iv got an onboard motherB. iv got a really unknown snd card. device manager calls it "C-media". well i guess the important thing is that its emulated.
my gpx is nVIDIA TNT2.
i tried pete's D3D but it refresh rate drops drastically!

Refresh rate? or you meant fps?
Well, try Pete's opengl plugin, it is the best for nvidia cards.

Go for OpenGL Plugin > it`s better 4 nVidia cards like your TNT2

>> it 'ticks' or 'cuts' while it plays the music (or speach)
try 2 fings:
1) use other plugin - ePSXeCore or Eternal Lite
2) incrase sound buffor value

well...
i did all u sayd yesterday.
resaults:
all testings with openGL plug-in were a failiure. no matter what i did the game ran so slow i could to the kitchen, get a drink and return while the 'sony copyright' are up ((((((((
so im back to peops doft drive 1.11. and here's the thing:
if the sound is off, the game runs even faster than normal (personall i like it) but the graphics didnt change (duhh...) here's a S-Shot from crash 3: http://bloodnut.topcities.com/001.jpg i dunno why the pic got screwed up in the bottom but dont mind it. look at the pic zommed cos that's how i see it in the emu (stretching). looks preety ugly in chrono cross too... what to do?
if the sound is on (i changed the buffer to the right amount and its working GREAT) the game gets slowed. what to do? (i dont use a big buffer. its about 70 - most optimal for me)

As Kane Said.. you need to give some specs for your system and more importantly how it's set up. If you are using Peops GPU for example click the copy settings to clipboard and paste into your post what it gives you. A lot of things can affect the speed. CPU is one of them. The TNT should be fine but if you are running it on a 200mhz P2 then.. ummm don't expect so much

The reason the screen seems screwed up is it's not, (ehhh?). that is a debug view of the VRAM You are seeing all the pallete textures etc. with the entire contents of the VRAM nifty huh?

Sound eats up a LOT of CPU.. that's a clue you have an underpowered PC for the job. Let's see how you have it set up to see if it's possible to get some extra power. All the voices etc will sound choppy though because the CPU is probably overloaded. Such is life!

It would help to know what processor type and speed your computer is. The Operating System would be nice, too.

A TNT2 video card should not be rendering OpenGL so poorly unless you aren't using proper drivers. You should at least update your video drivers - http://www.nvidia.com - as well as motherboard drivers. (if you know the Model and Manufacturer of the board)

If your computer is a brand name computer such as Dell, Compaq, or Gateway, you should visit their website to check for new driver releases.

Running your ePSXe at 320x240 will also create horrible "big cubes". Just make sure to use a res of 640x480 or higher. Hope this tidbit helps.

Just to clarify, D3D is better for the TNT2. OGL is recommended only for the GeForce series. The TNT2 actually has better performance in D3D than it does with OpenGL - this is with everything, not just ePSXe.

As for your problem, it sounds like you simply don't have enough CPU power to run the emu properly. I'd suggest that you switch to the Internal ePSXe SPU since it runs much faster than Eternal.

Hmm, it's not THAT low, but something's definitely sucking up CPU cycles if you're getting problems like that. See what happens if you change to 16 bit colour.

Try switching on the "use system memory" checkbox, if present (at least it's there in P.e.Op.S. 1.12). It worked very good with my poorly equipped laptop, where the video card's VRAM seems to be

soooooooooooo
oooooo
oo

slow.

GeForce2 MX works fine for Chrono Cross (since it can still run at 20 something FPS on PII 350mhz with 128mb sdram). Just don't turn on any filter, disable screen smoothing, and choose the fastest settings for frame buffer access and off-screen drawing. (using pete's openGL, 640x480)
P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver can run slower under certain settings...

Seems liker some kind of problem with hardware < it`s verry posible if U have GPU integred on your mainboard

chack if Updating mainboard&Gfx Card Drivers can change something?? Otherwise stay with SoftPlugin or buy new GFXCard

ehrm... Im not sure but disabling 2xSAI and filtering modes helps in the CC menus (u should try changing them for a better look BTW)
