"can not open registry key!" error
Yo!
I'm running epsxe as a limited user and when I go to config/game pad/pad 1 I get this bunch of "can not open registry key!" error. My guess is that epsxe is trying to open a registry file that is protected by root, so if anyone knows and can tell me wich keys is epsxe attempting to open, so I can grant appropiate privileges to them, I would really appreciate it. Note: when running epsxe as root this error is nonexistant

are you running the linux version (since you mention root) but afaik linux doesn't have a registry so you must be talking about the windows version. the only ppl that can tell you the registry keys that epsxe uses are the epsxe authors. Maybe you should pm them, but I doubt they will tell you wich keys epsxe tries to open/modify or whatever
That could be used for illegal use....I think

Er not so. Anyone can see the registry keys via regedit (assume they have admin access that is
)Anyways epsxe's settings are stored in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\epsxe plugins are in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vision Thing

It's more likely to be plugin related than to do with the core. IIRC limited users can't access IOTCL or ASPI layers normally. Try setting them.

Probably ePSXe, as you say, is suffering the same problems since it also does stuff like subchannel reading, however the weird thing is that I get the "can not open registry key" error when I open the "Config/Game Pad/Pad x" menu. Reading the pad is not something reserved for root (I have plenty of games wich don't run as root and still have access to the pad)... Note that, besides those errors, I press "ok" in the message box and every thing goes on normally. I can even play as limitied user. However the error is annoying, that's why I'm looking for information on how to get rid of it :^)

I've tried it in another computer with a limited user and I don't get the error anymore. Gotta be a config issue. I suspect the pad driver (PSX pad). I'll see if I can fix it and post the results.

Anyway, as I said, I don't think it is an epsxe issue. I'll check it later when I have more time and post my results...

It was indeed psxpad wich was causing the error. I uninstalled it and the errors disapeared. Some parts of PSXPad must be having problems runing as limited user...
Thanks anyway everyone
