ePSXe + PeteOpenGL on linux
hi folks,
i have a serious problem with getting ePSXe to work properly on my SuSE 8.0. the thing is that i tried it firt a week ago or somewhere around that and though even if i don't have hardware acceleration enabled in X11 it would at least run at a similar speed as on my former win2k. well, i guessed wrong. after watchinng the bios-screen (sony-logo) go by at about 3 fps i thought i sucked and wanted to enable 3D and use Pete's OpenGL plugin. fine, i have a Creative 3DBlaster (NVidia Gefore2 MX, 32MB DDR) and saw some GLX drivers on their page but there comes another problem. even the standard installation of SuSE 8.0 (X11 + KDE-complete + Mesa and stuff) won't accept neither the rpm package nor the misc-distribution because of kernel compatibilty problems. rpm says something like it needs kernel 2.2 and above. i'm running 2.4.18 but still... here's my configuration: PIII 700 -> 784Mhz/112Mhz 256MB SDRAM BX2000 Creative Gforce 2 MX software: SuSE 8.0 XF86 4.03 and "nv" as driver has anyone solved this issue? thx in advance! |

maybe this might help:
------------------------------------------ If you already have an XF86Config file working with a different driver (such as the 'nv' or 'vesa' driver), then all you need to do is find the relevant Device section and replace the line: Driver "nv" (or Driver "vesa") with Driver "nvidia" In the Module section, make sure you have: Load "glx" You should also remove the following lines: Load "dri" Load "GLcore" ------------------------------------------------------- also make sure you have the most current drivers 1.0-3123, older drivers tend to not compile correctly if you are using GCC 3.x

Basically your issue is the 3d Linux drivers then, as in not being able to install them...
I remember SuSE 8 (when I had it installed) having some sort of automatic online updater program, (and since I no longer have SuSE installed I couldn't tell you the name of it for anything, yet I remember its existence) where it went online and found tons of software updates and auto-downloaded and installed them. The point is, one of these updates was for Nvidia 3D acceleration... so if you can find that updater program, see if it will download the 3d stuff for you and you should be set ![]() (OT: And liquid, your sig distracted me while I was typing all this )

SuSE has its own kernel modules and driver packages.
Goto nVidia web site to download, and follow instructions offered by others. http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=li...splay_1.0-3123 |
