Having trouble with ePSXe after video card upgrade
Hello all, I recently upgraded my video card to a GeForce 4 Ti 4400. While I was at it, I also got another 256 megs of ram bringing my total to 512. Before I got the new vid card, Gran Turismo 2 ran great. Now when I try to play I get a frame rate drop every second or two. I'll be running 60 fps then it drops to 30. Back up to 60 then down to 30. I don't know what's causing this. I am using Pete's plugins and I have used his fast and nice settings. Both do the exact same thing. I use OpenGL and D3D both and get the exact same frame stutter every time. Here are my system specs:
Abit KG7 mobo AMD Athlon XP 1.47 GHz 512 mb DDR Ram GeForce 4 Ti 4400 with 128 mb DDR Ram SoundBlaster Live! Value I'm running Windows 2000 with new drivers for everything and DirectX 8.1. Here are the plugins I am using: Pete's OpenGL and D3d Drivers 1.62 Internal ePSXe SPU SCPH1001 BIOS I'm running ePSXe 1.5.2 with the fix to allow GT2 to run. I use ePSXecutor 1.0 to launch ePSXe. I'm running an ISO of GT2 from my hard drive. I would really appreciate any help I can get. I'm thinking I might try to cap my frames at 30 so I don't get the stutter. I wonder if 30 fps is enough to run smoothly tho... Well anyway, if you have any suggestions throw them my way. I've tried to include any information I could possibly think of. If there's anything else you need to know just ask. Thanks! -EDIT- Doh just saw something already. I used to have a GeForce 2 GTS with I think 32 mb of SD ram. |

Hmm could you post your pete's plugin config?(btw upgrade to 1.63) You can try setting the limiter to 60fps and see what happens...which detonator drivers are you using for your gf4?

Well i have the same system as you except a tad faster and i can run it fine. The game should normally run at around 25fps with the standard FPS settings in Petes Plugins. If you set it so that you configure your own FPS, say 33fps for example it will run really smooth. This is what i have found to be the best speed etting for the game. Its not too fast and not too slow. Too speed it up in the menus all you do is change the framerate with HOME and END buttons. This allows you to speed through the menus and also play the game at a nice smooth rate.
You must remember though that when you are actually racing the normal FPS for the game is 25 and for the menus it is 60. Here is pic of my plugin specs so you see what i mean.
