So people like you won't use it.. Seriously though, it's makes it easier on the epsxe authors if they don't have to code that part of the emulation.. Allowing other authors to code it.. Plus it also allows more api's to be used.. Without a pluggin system, we wouldn't have all these wonderful gpu pluggin which tailer to everyone's needs.. Glide, d3d, ogl.. Imagine if the epsxe authors had to only not program one api, but all three of them..
This way, the epsxe authors can concentrate on making the main emulator better.. And the pluggin authors concentrate on their own code.. Plus, a lot of people including myself love the option to configure everything to our own preference.. Tweakers..

You can't compare a NES or a GB/GBA decice to the playstation. On the PSX, there are a lot more of hardware pieces and therefor much more stuff you need to properly emulate ... when the PSEmu Pro team created the plugin standard, they were very well aware of this I'd suppose.
As fivefeet8 said, it's just that a lot of plugin authors usually do a better job on different graphic platforms than one small team can ... or which emulator supports glide, OpenGL, Direct3D at the level any PSEmu Pro compatible emulator does ? ![]() BTW, I edited your post title, please keep these a bit shorter

Everyone has different PC configs and it would get really confusing to see lots of plugins if you are new to it. Also someone already said about the Bios.
