From the ePSXe help:

Quote:
Dumping the PSX Bios

When you own a real playstation, there's also the possibility of dumping your own PSX BIOS instead of getting it from the internet. Below is a short description, which should give you an idea of how dumping it works. If you're familiar with the utilities being used there, you are already able to dump it. If not, searching the net is again a good idea here !

To dump a PlayStation BIOS, you need a GameShark or Action replay and a PC comms link. To start, you need either a real Caetla module or go to Google (http://www.google.com ) and search for "Caetla" (it's a BIOS replacement for your module, so properly read the included documentation before installing it!!).

Now upload "Caetla", and use use the caetla commands for downloading a binary memory image from the region 0x0bfc00000 - 0x0bfc7ffff! Now save the image as SCPHxxxx.bin, where xxxx is your PSX's model number, and ePSXe will recognise it and use it from now on.

But let's get real here, no one dumps a BIOS nowadays. It's simply too much hassle. You got a Caetla? A "PC Comms link"?. Know the Caetla commands? I thought so too. So you're better off looking for a copy on the net, as long as you somehow own a PSX console.

As for the scph-3500 issue, I assume you want to play some japanese games? A PAL BIOS like the scph-7502 or dtlh-3002 will work with them. I got quite a pile of japanese games myself, and they definitely work.

If you need a bios file, go to www.google.com and do a search. You should come up w/plenty of sites that still have them. BTW, Shiori is correct, the 7502 is the one to use w/ePSXe. It is the one reccomended by the authors themselves.

Well, I guess the suggestion of using google to get a BIOS is quite the best way to get one. It's rather hard to read japanese if you're not familiar with the language, as it is in my case After all, you'll surely need some kind of PC Link, 'cause some kind you have to get your BIOS onto your hard disk, eh? Could get hard without some connection to your PC, but I'm not expert in these things. Just my suggestions

Read the doc.... it's got a lot of Hiragana, so I can't make sense out of most of it. However, only a select few games (like Winning Eleven) need that specific bios. Most will work with a PAL one.

If you REALLY can't run that game, try looking for 501XX. He _might_ send you a savestate of that particular JAPANESE game if he has it.

That's going to take quite a while then. Plugin-based emus will never reach 100% compatibility. There's simply too many possible plugin configs to guarantee perfect emulation every time. Add to that the various copy protection schemes, and it's going to be a VERY daunting task.

I meant perfection with internal bios.

Infact pcsx is already showing very promising results with internal hle bios.I will check out winning eleven 2002 to see how it figures out.

We hadn't took carefull about the modchip protected games before until that winning eleven 2002 was released. There are a large bunch of games protected, but usually it was playable using
a PAL bios, or with a ppf patch. (Some games check the country of the bios, and if it is PAL, skip the protection). Last weekend we have done some changes in the emulator, and some modchip protected games are working now (including we2002), if you want help us to check modchip protect games, please send me a email to calb@andago.com, and i will send a beta with partial modchip support. This beta needn't some special bios, it should work with every different bios.

Thanks,
Regards,
Carlos.

As you can see by the screen shots the game look fabulous and plays the same as well. The speech is perfect and everything is smooth including the opening MDEC where the T-Rex eats the guy.
Great job ePSXe team.
sincerely,
