Best image quality
Can you tell what would be the best plugin and the best settings to get to nicest image quality? I'm playing with gran turismo 2 and the pic is not very nice (even with fsaa 4x enabled)
I have a geforce pro@250/455 |

Go with pete's OGL. Remember to switch on full screen smoothing and apply one of the higher filtering options.

Should be 1.61 if I remember correctly. Anyways, can be found in the downloads section of some page... might be the one this board is related to
Have a look right there and your search shall be rewarded. Shouldn't be too hard I guess.

The best way to get the sharpest image quality I've found, is to not use the anti-aliasing. Instead using the open GL plug-in, select the anistropic filter option. It results in much cleaner image quality and you don't take near the performance hit.

Where is Pete?
He'll explain to you why PSX emulation can't use anistropic/trilinear filtering: Basicaly it's because of the PSX's lack of a Z-Buffer. Texture anistropicy should have no effect in ePSXe.

GeForce 2 can do it, just very slowly in comparison to the 3+

I'd say the best way to get better image quality would probably be getting a better graphics card. fsaa + screen smoothing is about the best u can do. go here to see some of my screenies of GT2 1024x768x32 w/ 4xFSAA and screen smoothing using Pete's OpenGL 1.61

There doesnt seem to be much of a difference when antialiasing is turned on. Well thats from what i can see. The only thing that makes a difference is the screen smoothing option. I dont think enabling FSAA in the display propeties of your graphics card does anything. Even if it does there should be some sort of performance hit if it is doing anything, and i dont get any performance hit.

The geforce 4 cards have a lot more different types of FSAA settings. The highest one is FSAAx4xS which basically hammers your system to the max. From what i can see it makes no difference to any emulated PSX games. Yet it does seem to slow down in Quake 3 just a tad.
