Question ePSXe video/sound, very pixelated/choppy

I'm having a heck of a time trying to get my ePSXe to display properly. The display and frame rate doesn't hold a candle to my Playstation itself.
Actually, my games are more reminiscent of Super Nintendo as far as what appears on my screen. I just can't debug the problem. If anyone has any suggestions as to what video settings/or sound I should configure please let me know.

850Mhz Duron processor
8Mb nVidia Vanta LT graphics card
Windows Me
256 Mb RAM
Internal sound card bundled with computer.

I'll also add that I have no problem running PC games such as Elite Force or Max Payne. Outstanding graphics and game play.

This is why I am confused why PSX games play so poorly...

You need to post your plugins and settings so people can help.
Also realize that emulated games will not look nearly as good as native games at the same system specs.

Ok, I am using an .ISO from my game, "The Italian Job", with Pete's D3D plugin(with the default "fast" configuration), and the Eternal sound plugin, with all boxes checked in config, except the bottom one.

Theres your problem.. A fast setting lowers your graphical niceness while speeding up the game.. It's your choice to either have better graphics with a slower game or a Full speed game with less video quality.. The best is to have a system that can have both.. But your graphics card ain't gonna help you much with that..

I just find it odd that graphic intensive games such as Max Payne, work fine. Just a different setup I guess with Sony games. Thanks for the advice, though. The graphics card isn't the best but I have a Compaq Presario and upgrading a video card may be out of the question.
