Choppy sound can usualy be tracked to 3 things:

1: Enabling 2 spu irq options. You only need one (use the plugins instead of the emus)

2: Having to low a sound buffer. Increase it.

3: Bad cd drive performance. Make an iso.

BTW It appears that your gpu is quite out of date. The latest is 1.61.

Don't use Auto-detect for the FPS; try setting it to 60 or 65.

One question: Why is the FPS-limit autodetection not recommended? It only checks, if you inserted a PAL or NTSC CD and sets the limit to 50 or 60, doesn't it?

Well, I am by no means an authority on the subject but, in my experiance, it isn't very reliable; there hasn't been _one_ case of sound choppiness or echoing that I've encountered thus far that I couldn't fix by manually setting the FPS; though I'll admit that I've only encountered 3 such problems, as I've had ePSXe for just a couple months and only played 7 games with it.

Most problems with Auto FPS limit and Autodetection are with PAL games.. All of my NTSC games have never had problems with those options..

Sometimes there are issues with ppf patches also, eg the ppf file for ff9 has a few issues and as a result I find it works best at 55fps.
