Is it just me?
I seem to spend most of my time configuring my PC to be compatible with as much software as possible. To me, this has become 'leisure'. It used to be about games, now it's about more than that. It's the ability to impress your friends by saying, "Hey, give me that disc!", throwing it into your PC and watching their faces light up with amazement. Or saying "Name a game you like from your childhood", and responding to their request with a nonchalant, "Now loading..." God, that sounds pathetic. Anyone else out there like me? I pride myself on having a PC that can play anything for DOS, Windows, Amiga, Commodore 64, Sega CD, PSX, etc... etc... And I seem to spend more time playing with the emulators than playing the games. |

I absolutely agree. I *love* tinkering around with new emulators trying to get the best possible performace/compatability. I have shown as many as I can the power of emulation, something I never get tired of.
However, the games are still why I do it. Just recentley I had a 4+ hour session w/ Valkyrie Profile. I still love games as much as ever. ePSXe caused my old PSX (modded) to gather dust. Emulation is the way to go!!! God bless the talent and devotion of all those out there in the trenches of emu programming. |

hehe..... well, my PSX got broken last week, so I decided to give emu another shot..... tried with epsxe 1.52 spanish + Eternal SPU 1.30 + Pete's D3D 1.61 + Vagrant Story..... and I'm proud to say that IT IS GREAT!!!!!! man! what have I been missing all this time?...... my PC runs it at 400*300 (enough to get kickass graphics!)..... and perfect sound (but just a little weird)..... I'll buy a PSX to PC controller and get on the fun!!!!!
I am proud to say that epsxe is by far better than VGS and the PSX itself..... thanks a lot guys!!!!!! |

computer emulation exceeds that of normal console gameplay... because a console has limits and the computer always advances and has new features. Emulation allows the manipulation of those computer features and allows most games to work a lot better than on the original console. There are a few consoles more powerful than the common computer right now but in a year or two the new processors that will be released will allow speeds that exceed those consoles. The only problem with emulation is that many bugs are made and problems which require special fixes, emulation will never be 100% perfect but it will allow most games to run better than on their original system.
sincerely, Strider

Playing with and having the emulators is as much fun as playing the games. Plus it has been a real learning experience for me. The other thing that I treasure, is being able to relive my memories of those great systems that I had. The SNES, Genesis, GG, GB, Sega CD, Atari 2600, Commodore 64, etc. I love them all and I am thrilled that I am still able to play and enjoy those great games today and hopefully for a long long time to come.
Praise be to emulation and the people who make it possible. sincerely, sx/amiga |

I am finding myself with less time these days, but I do spend and enjoy my free time(what little I have) testing out new emus.. It's fun and rewarding to know that you can get something running so good through emulation..
Also, I have been testing my new graphics card with pc games and emulation.. I hope to make time to actually play some games.. :|

Kinda reminds me of the dos 6/win 3.1 days. I was known to spend a good while tinkering with my settings to sqeeze out enough conventional memory to get certain games to run. There's a lot to be said for the satisfaction you get when you suss something by yourself.

Well
yes I admit it most of time is for playing with emu and plugins config and the reward is learning and experience and self satisfaction for your achievements. When I began using emus was the NES emus like nesticle(still using it), the SNES emu Zsnes and mainly because I wanted to play those games I hadn't played because I didn't had enough money, and that was great. Also emus allow to remember your times and makes you think "Oh this game was the best on its time" and such and such. Seriously the new genration emus like ePSXe and the other made emulation be beyond

I gotta agree with every one!
Tweaking brings just a sheer amount of enjoyment. Also using all the old emulators brings back so many great memories. Sure the controls arnt perfect, but just the fact that you get to play them again is great. Hell i get more enjoyment playing Double Dragon 3 now that i cant do the roundhouse kick than i did when i could beat it single handedly on the NES. Just the fun of playing games off the coleco entertainment system brings back some good memories ![]() But still tweeking has its joys, i have spent in the last two days twice as much time tweaking epsxe to run HM: BTN at optimal rate |

Same here, I just love finding the perfect setting for emulator. To be honest, I really love to play console game using emulator in my pc rather than playing them in the actual console. PC games is my second choice now.

Perfecting the settings is what makes the games more enjoyable. You most of the time tinker around with the settings to get better results. If the game slows down at a certain point you would want to find out what the problem is and try to improve on it. It's just part of fun for a computer savvy person

I also agree... I take great pride in finding that Perfect Configuration, not only in the emulators and plugins.. but every PC Game I have... It's a great feeling when you get that game runing perfect and smoothly... especially if like myself.. you putted your PC together yourself!!
![]() Like everyone said.. it's all part of the fun of not only Emulation, but PC Gaming in general.
