Question Controllers

I am having a problem with my epsxe emulator. I have 1.51 and before that i had 1.4, which was the last version which worked for me.

A few days ago, i wnet to use my epsxe 1.40 and found my controllers (2 gravis gamepad pros, usb) to be unresponsive. I went to my controller configuration and tried to reconfigure them, but the only directions which respond are J2_up, J2_right, J1_down, J1_left. none of the buttons respond in epsxe but still work fine in every other program i have. epsxe still recognizes any other input i give it (ie keyboard) but wont recognize my controllers. I updated my version of epsxe to 1.51 and downloaded every single input plugin i could but to no avail. i also tried the solution in the help manual of deleting the configuration info from the registry, but all the resulted in was that i had to reset my configurations and my controllers didnt work still.

Im using a windows XP athlon 1ghz (266mhz fsb) with 256 DDR RAM, Geforce 2 mx400 64mb w/TVout, onboard sound card, 48x generic cdrom (the drive i use for epsxe), 8x4x32 phillips cdrw, 80gig maxtor hard drive. if there is any other information you need to help me solve this, let me know.

they seemed to work when i first installed XP, but they stoped working after a little while

it might be the controller i have though, i use a SideWinder. the thing is, it works on every other program that supports gamepads

Strange... Gamepads have been working perfectly with WinXP and ePSXe in my computer. And I have 4 of them:

1) Sidewinder Gamepad Pro
2) Sidewinder Plug and Play Gamepad
3 and 4) PSX PAD @ Parallel port, using NTPad

Maybe it's a driver issue?
