Looking for Best EMU Settings
Hi everyone,
I am a new ePSXe user in need of the best EMU settings for my hardware (see below). I plan on using ePSXe to play FFVII-FFIX, FFT, MGS and the original Tomb Raider. Can anyone help me out?

Based on your system spec I suggest you to try this setting (will produce very good looking graphic for most games)
Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.61 Author: Pete Bernert Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation GFX card: GeForce2 GTS/AGP/SSE Resolution/Color: - 640x480 Fullscreen - Desktop changing [32 Bit] - Keep psx aspect ratio: off Textures: - R8G8A8A8 - Filtering: 0 - Garbage collection: on - VRam size: 64 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limitation: on - Frame skipping: off - FPS limit: 63 Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 2 - Framebuffer texture: 2 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: off - Advanced blending: on Misc: - Scanlines: off - Line mode: off - Unfiltered FB: off - Dithering: off - Screen smoothing: on - Full vram: off - Game fixes: on [00000400] You can enable 4xfsaa to make the graphic even more smooth and wonderful. Some games need special games fix in order to work correctly (FF7 & FF9) For SPU plugin use Eternal SPU plugin. For CDR plugin use the internal epsxe plugin or Pete CDR plugin. Have fun

Thanks G-Pitts. Your settings work great, and I'm getting no less than 57.9 fps with FFVII! I do have a few more questions, though.
4xfsaa in OpenGL doesn't make much of a difference with the pre-rendered backgrounds of the FF games, but looks incredible in D3D. Does anyone know why this is? I'd use D3D instead, but I can't find a way to stop screen tearing. Turning on vsync seems to have no effect (it doesn't work for some other D3D games as well). Is there any way around this? It seems to me that it's probably an ATi problem. Turning on the Xenogears game fixes makes the game run extremely choppy, and leaving them off makes it so most of the screen isn't shown. I've searched the forum for a fix but I can't find one that works for me. Anyone have any ideas? I'm looking forward to playing Xenogears without the grainy PS1 polys. Thanks for your help. ePSXe rocks!

Did you enable screen smoothing in pete OpenGL plugin? If not, try enabling it to fix the prerendered background problem.
Its true that ATI is lack of good driver for their card so this maybe cause the problem. Do not use the special game fix for Xenogears coz its slow. Use Full Vram primitive instead. Just want to ask, do you know how to turn the full vram primitive option when you are in the game? If not read the plugin readme.txt files. Only turn on Full Vram primitive if the screen goes black because this option use a lot of CPU power.
