Unhappy I really need help....

I'm dying to play Silent Hill in ePSXe. I have the NTSC version of it, and i've heard that it has problems. I don't know how to get it working. I downloaded a 'ppf' file from here recently for Wip3out (Wipeout 3), which had problems before and now it works. I was hoping there was one for Silent Hill, but there isn't one in the ppf section of NGemu. Is there anywhere else on the .net I can get one? Of if there's an alternative solution, i'll be more than glad to listen. I'm using ePSXe 1.5.1, with the internal plugin for the CD-ROM, 'Pete's D3D Plugin 1.6.1' and 'Pete's DSound Driver 1.14'. Alot of thanks in advance.

Mike

rei_fox, what the point of your post, other than to spam? I say this because it does not help him, offer any solutions, or even pertain to what he is saying. On top of that, I sure he already knows what you said, after all, he has already said that the game isn't working for him. Any more "senseless" posts like this and you'll be "treading on very thin ice!" So I suggest you watch it. Thanks.

I think you should calm down, sxamiga.

I think he just wanted Mr. ready2rumbel here to know that it's not just him who's experiencing that problem.

I don't have Silent Hill (never liked the genre), but I've had some problems with Konami games in the past, and usually I do two things before posting a game problem here:

1. Try a soft plugin like PEOpS. It has great compatibility, but at the expense of graphic quality, and even some speed.

2. Try a different BIOS. I've read in the ePSXe file that different BIOS' shouldn't affect compatibility, but I found out otherwise.

I never knew this method of pressing F4 when it hangs...thanks 'praful'....i'll try it...although i'm using ePSXe 1.5.1...but if I have to i'll use ePSXe 1.4...thanks for the input guys, i'd shake your hands and hug ya if I could. But if for some reason this doesn't work, is there anything else I can do? Again, thanks for all the help.

The only way that I managed to bipass the hangup at the Konomi logo is to do the following:

1)Go to the memory card option, check which directory your memory cards are located in

2)Go to that directory, and either delete or move both of the memory(one on each slot) to a temporary place.

3)Start up silent hill, and the game will either ask if you want to format your cards or just pass the konomi logo.

4)You have successful bipass the Silent Hill hangup

5)Move the memory card(s) back to their original location and correct their paths in the EPSXE memory card option.

6)Enjoy the game and get ready to be scared out of your wit.

PS: You should try this method on version 1.40. I'm not sure if it works on newer versions, but you can try if you want.

I have a save state that bypasses the KCET logo (the lock-up point). Just start the game and load the state (it will be in the 1st slot), and you'll be all set.

Ahh...well, I tried the save state, and it got past the KCET screen, AND I was able to choose 'Start Game', but as soon as I do, ePSXe quits, displaying a nice error message for me. So, i'm making an ISO of it as I type, and if that fails i'm gonna play around with the plugins cause it might be Pete's D3D plugin, but somehow I doubt that very, very much. But even if it does work or not, thanks again for all the help...

Sorry i'f i'm posting so many times, sorry. Well, the ISO repeats the same symptoms as if I were to run Silent Hill from the CD. The interesting thing is that with Pete's D3D plugin (1.6.1), when I select 'Start Game' it quits, but with a software plugin, such as P.E.Op.S Software Driver (1.5) I manage to get past the 'Start Game' part to be able to choose which difficulty I want, but as soon as I choose one, it hangs from there.
Not only that, but I tried the memory card trick. It doesn't matter if I delete or move my existing 'Memory Cards', as soon as I do, ePSXe will make new ones. I'm really getting desperate here...I don't know what to do.

Mike

i think i knew this one...

i know ive played it and try this...

1. play without a memory card on the config
2. play the game (i think that it was caused by the memory card checking)
3. save state
4. enter a mem card
5. load state and save...

and by the way sxamiga i was telling him that i suffered the same fate in playing silent hill and im not spamming...
thanks...

I got the game to work. I make sure there is no 'Memory Card' in use, and it loads fine. The only problem after was that I couldn't save on the memory card cause it asked to be 'formatted', but when I try it hangs up , but you, 'rei_fox' you might have answered the question I didn't even ask yet. Boy, this is great! I'm gonna try that out. Thanks alot, you guys.
