FF9 crash in CD3

First of all, I wanna thank you guys for providing me with tonloads of information here on this forum to get FF9 to work .
I'm quite far in the game (CD3) and now suddenly I get a read error on adress ffffffff.
It's right after the cards-championship when they announce there is some bad news from Alexandria (I'm trying to steer clear from spoilers as hard as I can here ).
You see Kuja making his speech by himself when at the end the screen fades to black (and I think an fmv is coming up).
Here are some screens to clear things up:

I never seem to get the full tekst with printscr., so here it is:
"Your former master is here, Bahamut
Play a requiem for her and all of Alexandria"
then I press the x-button, it fades out ... and the following error pops up:

I'm using a blindread iso from an official CD in windows'98. The same error occurs with the original cd. The cd is brand-new and has not a single scratch on it (double-checked it ).
In windows xp I don't get an error, but the screen just stays black, so I think it's the same error.

Please help, I made it this far in the game, and this is the only way a final-fantasy freak like me can play it!

done

As for the problem, it looks like your cd is damaged. The only way to get past it is either to get a new copy or post a memory card and hope that someone will play past that part for you.

BTW which version is it? ie Us english, uk english, french etc...

Unhappy

Today I went to the shop, said it was broken and I got a new FF9. But it still gives the same error. I've tried the cd in two drives, ran the iso in epsxe and mounted it in daemon-tools... nothing worked :/
I've bought it here in belgium, so I think it's the UK-English version (PAL).
System is: p3 450 @ 518
win98/xp (same error)
320 mb ram
40 speed cd rom/32*8*4 read-write-rewrite philips
maxtor hd
geforce2gts (creative)

on friends' pc same error while the game runs perfectly for the rest (athlon 800... totally different configuration)

Has anyone any idea what it could be?
If not: is there someone here who could play through this?

sstates.zip => Please first try to use these: the two of them are right before the error, the first of them (slot 2, I believe) would be the one with the most data of me, please try to use that one. If that doesn't work, please use my memcard saves:

memcards.zip => it is the last (the second, not the 25th ) savegame from memorycard2, you only have to go to the card-tournament and compete with cid, then sit through something to do with kuja, and then try to save after that (and If missed something... ), please try to save with sstates so I miss as little as possible

I would be very gratefull if someone could help me out.

are you using a patch or subchannel reading?
and afaik, it would be wise to avoid save states if you can

Try using isobuster (http://www.isobuster.com) to make the ISO, that might help.
